Nifco Launches Innovative One-Touch Reflector Shield for Subaru Vehicles
Nifco, a leading Japanese engineering company based in Yokosuka, Kanagawa, has made a significant advancement in automotive technology by launching a new one-touch reflector shield designed specifically for Subaru vehicles. This innovative product aims to improve the precision of advanced vehicle safety systems, particularly in the calibration of millimeter-wave radar sensors, which are essential for detecting nearby vehicles and pedestrians.
With the growing integration of advanced safety equipment in modern automobiles, the necessity for effective tools to cope with electromagnetic noise has become paramount. Electromagnetic waves emitted by millimeter-wave radar can be distorted by nearby metallic reflections, leading to false detections and inaccurate calibration. This challenge is particularly relevant in automotive maintenance workshops where radar aiming (calibration) is performed.
Previously, Subaru technicians were advised to attach wooden boards to metal stands to prevent noise during radar adjustments. However, this method required multiple pieces of wood cut to different heights for various car models and was labor-intensive due to the need for securing and removing them with tape.
To address these issues, Nifco developed the one-touch reflector shielding solution by integrating its advanced radar-compatible electromagnetic wave absorption panels with their fastener technology. This product has now been officially adopted as an approved tool for operational improvements by Subaru.
The innovative design features a removable plastic clamp on the back of the radar absorption panel, allowing for easy installation and removal. Moreover, the clamp offers an optimal holding force, enabling height adjustments of the reflector even while attached. This increases efficiency for technicians and ensures a more reliable calibration process. The sales of this product commenced on May 14 through Subaru dealerships and it comes with impressive specifications, achieving over -20dB electromagnetic wave absorption performance in the 76-81GHz frequency band.
Features of the New Product
- - Exhibits excellent electromagnetic wave absorption performance with a -20dB rating at 76-81GHz frequency.
- - Combines material and design optimization for superior absorption performance in multiple directions.
- - Made from a soft material (olefin elastomer) which allows for flexible shaping to fit various applications.
- - Designed with a plastic clamp that fits metal stand pole diameters for quick attachment and detachment.
- - Allows for height adjustments while the reflector is still attached, improving operational efficiency.
