March 5, 2025 - The Special Integrated Logistics Zone (SILZ) has officially launched Lenovo's new high-tech manufacturing facility in Riyadh Integrated, a strategic hub poised to enhance the production of laptops, desktops, and servers in Saudi Arabia.
Located on a sprawling 200,000 square meter site just 15 minutes from King Khalid International Airport, this new factory will leverage an optimized logistics network, efficient infrastructure, and excellent connectivity. It aims to bring products closer to customers across the MENA region, significantly improving supply chain efficiencies.
This development marks a collaboration between Lenovo and Alat, an innovative company funded by the Public Investment Fund, dedicated to revolutionizing global industries and establishing a world-class manufacturing center in the Kingdom. Alat's role as an investment partner underscores its commitment to uplift Saudi Arabia’s tech sector, further strengthening Lenovo's supply chain, which ranks 10th globally, according to Gartner.
Dr. Fadi Al-Buhairan, the CEO of SILZ, stated, “Welcoming Lenovo to Riyadh Integrated solidifies our position as a leading hub for advanced manufacturing and technology in the region. This inauguration, in partnership with Alat, marks a pivotal moment for Saudi Arabia's tech sector. Lenovo’s decision to base its manufacturing operations here demonstrates confidence in our world-class infrastructure and strategic location as a gateway to the MENA market. We are optimistic that this partnership will create substantial employment opportunities, stimulate economic growth, and align with the broader goals of Saudi Vision 2030.”
Scheduled to commence production in 2026, the factory will complement Lenovo’s global manufacturing network, utilizing the cutting-edge facilities at Riyadh Integrated. This aims to accelerate the delivery of industry-leading products, services, and solutions. The collaboration between Alat and Lenovo is anticipated to create up to 15,000 direct jobs and an additional 45,000 indirect jobs, significantly benefiting the Saudi economy and contributing to the establishment of a thriving tech ecosystem within the Kingdom.
This venture not only encapsulates the drive towards modernization in Saudi Arabia but also exemplifies the country’s determination to establish itself as a key player in the global technology landscape. With strategic partnerships and developing infrastructure, the future looks bright for the tech industry in the Kingdom.
