Forage and Save A Lot Introduce SNAP EBT Payments on Uber Eats to Enhance Grocery Access
Enhancing Grocery Access with SNAP EBT
In a groundbreaking move to increase accessibility to groceries, Forage, a payments technology company, and Save A Lot, one of the largest budget-friendly grocery chains in the U.S., recently announced the integration of SNAP EBT payments on Uber Eats. This newly launched feature is now available at over 325 participating Save A Lot locations, designed especially for families in food deserts, seniors, individuals with disabilities, and those who lack reliable transportation.
Mark Kotcher, Senior Vice President of Sales at Save A Lot, expressed the commitment of the grocery chain to serve communities with limited access to full-service grocery options. He remarked, “By enabling SNAP EBT with Forage on Uber Eats, we’re able to meet our customers where they are – online and on mobile. This new option allows families to obtain fresh food at affordable prices.” This partnership also enables independent Save A Lot licensees to participate, which was previously a challenge.
As the co-founder and CEO of Forage, Ofek Lavian, pointed out, delivering groceries can significantly aid individuals facing mobility challenges due to various reasons. “Our aim is straightforward: we want to make EBT accessible wherever a family shops for food, including on delivery platforms they are already familiar with,” Lavian said.
To give families a little extra support during the holiday season, Save A Lot has introduced a special promotion wherein customers can receive 30% off orders of $50 or more (with a maximum discount of $25) on eligible purchases made via Uber Eats until December 31, 2025. This discount is exclusively for first-time Save A Lot customers using the Uber Eats platform.
How It Works
Using SNAP EBT on Uber Eats is designed to be a straightforward process:
1. Add your EBT card: Begin by linking your EBT card within the Uber Eats wallet.
2. Browse the Storefront: Navigate through Save A Lot’s storefront and select SNAP-eligible items.
3. Checkout: Choose the EBT payment option when you are ready to check out. If there are items that are not eligible for SNAP payments, you can add a secondary payment method as needed.
With hundreds of locations now enabled for SNAP EBT transactions on Uber Eats, this collaboration effectively broadens access to groceries for millions of Americans reliant on SNAP benefits. Forage, being an approved third-party payment processor by the USDA, equips retailers with optimal software solutions while guiding them through the authorization process required for government payments.
