Noto Introduces a One-of-a-Kind Pokémon Airport This July: A New Era for Travelers

A Unique Pokémon-Themed Airport in Noto

This July, Noto, a picturesque region in Japan’s Hokuriku area, is set to unveil the world’s first airport officially branded with the beloved Pokémon franchise. The Noto Satoyama Airport will reopen on July 7, 2026, as the Noto Satoyama Pokémon With You Airport, celebrating a collaboration between Ishikawa Prefecture and the Pokémon With You Foundation. This initiative aims to revive and energize the local community in the wake of the devastating 2024 Noto Peninsula Earthquake.

A Theme Rooted in Community Spirit

The Pokémon-themed airport is not just another transportation hub; it is a celebration of Noto's identity and spirit. The project runs until September 2029, providing an exciting platform for visitors to engage with local culture, creativity, and resilience that marks Noto’s recovery journey.

As visitors step into the airport, they will be immersed in a Pokémon world right away. Each element has been designed to evoke the joys and nostalgia of the Pokémon universe, ensuring an experience that resonates with children and adult fans alike. From the airport's new logo to various original decorations that decorate the entrance, the welcoming ambience promises to set an exciting mood for travelers.

Features Within the Airport

Inside the arrival lobby, travelers will be greeted by an impressive installation titled "Akarui Mirai" (A Bright Future), showcasing three-dimensional representations of favorite Pokémon like Pikachu, Plusle, and Minun. These installations aim to convey hope and positivity to those affected by the recent earthquake while welcoming visitors.

Guests will also have the opportunity to view three specially-created short videos featuring Pokémon stories, including a delightful tale starring Dreepy, inviting visitors into the magical world of Pokémon.

Floating above the second-floor atrium will be a massive Pikachu balloon and a charming display of all 111 Flying-type Pokémon, bursting with vibrant colors and creativity. This intricate decoration is designed to captivate and delight fans of all ages.

Shopping and Dining Experiences

On the second level, the gift shop named Serendipity offers an enticing array of original merchandise inspired by the artwork "Kibou no Sora" (Sky of Hope), designed exclusively for the airport launch. Unique souvenirs like T-shirts, keychains, and luggage tags promise to serve as irreplaceable mementoes for visitors.

The culinary offerings at Restaurant Annon are just as exciting, featuring two original pancake dishes and two specially crafted beverages based on the airport theme. Guests who opt for a set menu will also receive an exclusive placemat decorated with Pokémon designs, making dining a delightful experience.

Outdoor Attractions

The outdoor observation deck, Pikachu no Satoyama, is another highlight of the airport, featuring a playful arrangement of Pikachu figures forming a breathtaking representation of a satoyama landscape, a nod to Noto’s natural beauty.

Beginning mid-July, a new Pokémon-branded bus service will take visitors to iconic local spots, including the Wakura Pokémon Footbath in Nanao City and the Nymphia with LOVE monument in Suzu City, ensuring that guests receive a full Pokémon encounter throughout their journey.

Rediscovering Noto

The advent of the Pokémon-themed airport signifies more than just a travel hub; it symbolizes Noto’s revival and cultural renaissance post-earthquake. The airport’s aim is to bring joy and revival not only to visitors but also to the local community, stimulating growth and excitement about their home.

Kanazawa Biyori, a media entity promoting Hokuriku’s living culture, remains dedicated to showcasing the vibrant stories and experiences that shape this locale.
