Architect Developer Enhances Crisis Management Through Earthquake Drill Simulation

Earthquake Response Drill Conducted by Architect Developer Inc.

Architect Developer Inc., located in Ginza, Chuo City, Tokyo, under the leadership of President Hiroki Kimoto, has successfully conducted its third crisis management training exercise, focusing on responses to large-scale earthquakes. This training simulated a significant earthquake scenario modeled after the Noto Peninsula earthquake, envisioning a 7.6 magnitude earthquake with shock levels reaching 7 occurring directly beneath Yokohama City. In total, 15 participants, including company executives and team leaders from relevant issue response units, engaged in this vital exercise.

Purpose of the Training

The primary aim of this drill was to ensure a swift establishment of the crisis management headquarters upon the occurrence of a disaster. The exercise provided an opportunity to reaffirm the necessary measures and decision-making protocols required during initial responses to emergencies. This initiative is a critical step towards improving disaster response capabilities and fostering a common understanding of the coordination systems in place.

Training Content and Achievements

  • - Establishment of the crisis management headquarters and a review of initial response actions by each response team.
  • - Verification of Business Continuity Plan (BCP) communication lines during a disaster.
  • - Coordination of initial actions and responses to critical operations based on the disaster scenario.
  • - Assessing the flow of information gathering and decision-making processes under conditions of limited communication.

During this drill, the team operated under a scenario where the Yokohama branch of the company became non-operational due to the earthquake. They verified practical processes commencing from the immediate response following the earthquake through to the rapid establishment of the crisis management headquarters. This included damage reports from various locations and comprehensive information sharing across the organization, culminating in decisive choices made by the crisis management team.

As a result, the drill highlighted the clarity of command structures during disasters and the speed of information transmission, confirming the capacity to issue clear directives. Additionally, discussions conducted during the exercise elucidated areas for improvement, guiding future efforts to fortify an effective crisis management structure and strengthen business continuity in disaster situations.

Summary

The training reiterated the significance of crisis response, providing a valuable forum for assessing concrete strategies through scenario-based discussions. Architect Developer Inc. is committed to ongoing training exercises that anticipate various disaster scenarios to further bolster preparedness against natural calamities. By ensuring the continuity of operations, the company aims to fulfill its corporate responsibilities and contribute to the establishment of a secure and safe society.
