The 137th Canton Fair 2025 Opens in Guangzhou

On April 15, 2025, the doors of the 137th China Import and Export Fair, known as the Canton Fair, officially opened in Guangzhou. This event is renowned for being one of the largest trade fairs in the world, attracting significant global attention.

The Canton Fair, scheduled from April 15 to May 5, is structured into three distinct phases, focusing on themes such as "Advanced Manufacturing," "Quality Home Life," and "Better Life." This year, the expo features 55 exhibition areas and 172 product zones, with new additions including special zones for service robots and integrated housing solutions.

The fair continues to embrace a hybrid model that allows online access year-round. This enhanced digital platform promises to create new business opportunities and helps stabilize and improve the quality of China's foreign trade. Vice Director of the Chinese Foreign Trade Centre, Zhang Sihong, warmly welcomed international guests during the opening ceremony, emphasizing the fair's long-standing role as a bridge for global cooperation.

"The Canton Fair continues to extend its arms to friends from around the world. This spectacular event serves as a platform for success and mutual benefit," stated Zhang Sihong.

By April 13, over 200,000 international buyers from 215 countries and regions had registered to attend. On opening day, the first phase, themed "Advanced Manufacturing," covered an impressive 520,000 square meters, drawing a significant number of attendees. A highlight of this year’s fair was the introduction of the Service Robots Zone located in the Friendship Hall of Area D. Visitors gathered to film demonstrations of various robots—including robotic dogs, industrial exoskeletons, and autonomous navigation robots.

From April 15 to April 19, Phase 1 showcased the strength of China's industrial innovations, welcoming 11,304 exhibitors, including approximately 3,700 companies focusing on electric vehicles, lithium batteries, solar cells, digital technologies, and smart manufacturing. This emphasis on advanced technologies and eco-friendly solutions reflects China's transformation into a high-tech manufacturing hub.

As the Canton Fair expands in scope and evolves in its offerings, it remains a crucial platform for accessing international markets and showcasing China's industrial progress.
