Online Seminar for Enhancing IT Investment Decision-Making Set for June 2026

Enhancing IT Investment Decisions Through Collaborative Research

The MCIS (IT System Visualization Council) is organizing an online seminar titled "Katarai no Yube SIG Joint Briefing" on June 11, 2026. This event will introduce three specialized interest groups, also known as SIGs, which will focus on advancing IT investment decision-making. Businesses interested in more effective decision-making processes in IT investments are encouraged to participate.

Event Overview

The upcoming seminar aims to present an overview of the activities planned for three SIGs during the 2026 fiscal year:

1. RDRA × Estimation SIG
This group will tackle the inconsistencies often found in system development estimates that arise from varying understandings of requirements. By utilizing the Requirements Definition and Relationship Analysis (RDRA) method, participants will learn to structure requirements more clearly, allowing for better comprehension of software scales and increasing the validity of their estimates.

2. Generative AI Estimation SIG
This group will explore the potential of generative AI for software scale estimation and estimation support. By merging generative AI with traditional estimation processes, the SIG will examine implicit assumptions and explore innovative approaches to enhance accuracy and efficiency.

3. System Lifecycle Enhancement SIG
This SIG will focus on quantifying decision-making processes concerning system maintenance, updates, and reconstruction. During its initial year, the group will investigate how technologies, including generative AI, can streamline maintenance and operational tasks, ultimately enhancing overall efficiency.

Unique Features of the SIGs

MCIS SIGs aim to derive actionable insights that can be applied in practical settings through hypothesis testing. This initiative will invite several companies to contribute actual cases and data on common challenges, enabling comparative analysis and validation of findings. Even non-members can join as trial members, allowing them to explore the benefits of participating in these research groups.

Target Audience

The seminar is tailored for individuals aiming to:
  • - Rationalize IT investment decision-making.
  • - Improve the accuracy of system development estimates.
  • - Enhance the efficiency of system maintenance and operations.
