Invest SEOUL Becomes Full Member of Global Investment Promotion Agencies Association

Invest SEOUL Joins WAIPA

Invest SEOUL has officially been welcomed as a full member of the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (WAIPA), a prestigious organization committed to fostering cooperation between various investment promotion agencies (IPAs) worldwide. This marks a significant step for Invest SEOUL in enhancing its global presence and promoting foreign direct investment (FDI) in the bustling metropolis of Seoul.

WAIPA encompasses approximately 170 member IPAs across roughly 130 countries, facilitating the exchange of best practices and strategies to improve FDI. With this new membership, Invest SEOUL can actively engage in WAIPA's General Assembly and numerous international events designed to showcase investment opportunities and attract businesses to the city. By participating in these gatherings, Invest SEOUL aims to directly display Seoul's investment landscape, highlight successful FDI initiatives, and network with multinational corporations and international entities.

Invest SEOUL is especially keen to utilize WAIPA's extensive database of investment promotion best practices. This invaluable resource will enable Seoul's investment agency to refine its efforts in attracting foreign investors by conducting reference checks and investor matching. Such capabilities aim to bolster the effectiveness of their promotional activities, ensuring that Seoul stands out as a prime investment destination.

The agency's commitment to showcasing Seoul’s competitive advantages extends to WAIPA’s communication platforms and publications. By doing so, Invest SEOUL reinforces its role as a key player in the global investment promotion arena, aiming to enhance the city’s brand value on an international scale.

One of the cornerstones of Invest SEOUL's strategy involves participating in WAIPA's flagship annual event, the World Investment Conference (WIC). Scheduled for this November in Geneva, Switzerland, the conference celebrates WAIPA's 30th anniversary. It will serve as a platform for discussing transformational shifts within the global investment landscape and exploring strategies to promote sustainable investment practices.

Jihyung Lee, CEO of Invest SEOUL, expressed enthusiasm about this new membership, stating, "Our membership in WAIPA is a key step towards solidifying our global presence and developing robust partnerships with other member agencies." Lee further emphasized Seoul's potential as a hub for future-focused industries such as AI, robotics, biotechnology, and quantum computing, which he identified as pivotal growth engines for the city.

By leveraging WAIPA's network, Invest SEOUL aims to broaden the reach of sector-specific investment strategies and collectively pursue international investment promotion initiatives, strengthening the city's appeal to global investors.

In summary, Invest SEOUL’s membership in WAIPA opens new avenues for collaboration and innovation in attracting foreign investment. With strategic planning and the support of a global network of colleagues, Seoul is poised to enhance its position on the world investment stage, inviting global investors to explore lucrative opportunities in one of Asia's most dynamic cities.
