PSEG Long Island Honors Lineworkers on National Appreciation Day

Honoring Our Lineworkers: PSEG Long Island's Commitment

On April 18, PSEG Long Island will honor National Lineworker Appreciation Day, a day dedicated to recognizing the indispensable efforts of lineworkers and field personnel working tirelessly to keep the lights on for approximately 1.2 million customers in Long Island and the Rockaways. This observance serves as a reminder of the critical role these brave individuals play in delivering safe and reliable electric service around the clock.

24/7 Commitment to Service

Lineworkers at PSEG Long Island are not just workers; they are the backbone of the utility service, prepared to respond to emergencies, even under the most challenging conditions. Whether it’s a calm, sunny day or during severe storms, these professionals remain dedicated to ensuring that the power stays on. PSEG Long Island has about 700 in-house and contracted lineworkers who work in shifts day and night, demonstrating their absolute commitment to the safety and well-being of their customers.

Michael Sullivan, vice president of Electric Operations at PSEG Long Island, expressed deep gratitude for the lineworkers. He stated, “PSEG Long Island could not be the most reliable overhead electric service provider in the state without our lineworkers and other field personnel. Their dedication shines through whether it's replacing equipment on a clear day or enduring long hours during blizzards and natural disasters.”

These dedicated teams are responsible for maintaining and repairing the electric system, ensuring that all customers receive top-notch service. The long hours they log and the conditions they work under play a vital role in the commitment of PSEG Long Island to provide quality service.

Beyond the Call of Duty

On this special day, PSEG Long Island encourages everyone to take a moment to appreciate the unsung heroes who often work behind the scenes. Their expertise not only ensures that electricity flows safely to homes and businesses but also supports the economic and social fabric of the community. Each lineworker plays a significant role in safeguarding power lines and performing necessary maintenance to sustain the infrastructure that we often take for granted.
