Enjoy Farming Experience Without Hassle at MOS FARM Tokyo in Takashimadaira

Exciting New Farming Experience at MOS FARM Tokyo

In an innovative collaboration between Itabashi City and Mos Food Services, the 'MOS FARM Tokyo Takashimadaira Farm' has officially opened its doors from June 12, aiming to enhance the appeal of Takashimadaira Green Space. The facility is conveniently located about a five-minute walk from Nishidai Station on the Toei Mita Line, providing an accessible outdoor experience for locals and visitors alike.

The initiative is part of Itabashi's broader green space revitalization project. The city is exploring the potential of its public landscapes through a series of experimental uses, with the ultimate goal of defining a strategic plan for future developments. At 'MOS FARM Tokyo', urban dwellers can enjoy a hands-on agricultural experience without the need to bring tools or materials—everything, from seedlings to fertilizers, will be provided to facilitate the experience.

Facility Overview

The farm features two distinct areas: the 'Visitor Plot Zone' where participants can cultivate their own vegetables and the 'Core Plot Zone' that is designed for a variety of events. During the summer months (June to August), visitors can plant seasonal vegetables such as mini tomatoes and eggplants. Meanwhile, from September to December, they can cultivate root vegetables like radishes and broccoli. The farm promises an engaging way for visitors to connect with nature, learn about agriculture, and enjoy the fruits of their labor.

Additionally, the farm will offer free observatory sessions for individuals interested in exploring the area before actively participating. Itabashi City aims to foster public engagement through this initiative, using insights and feedback from participants to inform future revitalization plans for the park.

Revitalization of Takashimadaira Green Space

The decision to open a farm at Takashimadaira Green Space stems from the recognition of various challenges such as aging facilities and changing user needs. In response, Itabashi City formulated a revitalization policy for the Green Space in the fiscal year 6, with plans to address these issues through targeted projects. The leading project now emphasizes the nine-chome area, encompassing efforts from Nishidai Station to Nishikata Station and is designed to enhance both the visual and functional aspects of the green space.

As the initiative progresses through these experimental uses, Itabashi City plans to actively engage with private companies to introduce creativity and innovative ideas in managing public spaces. The findings from this program will be valuable for developing future enhancements within the revitalization scheme.

For those interested in participating in the farming experiences or attending the observatory sessions, registration has opened, and spots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. The program will run tentatively until December 2028.
