Global Learning Session on Nuclear Disarmament and Upcoming Treaty Reviews

Understanding the Road Ahead for Nuclear Disarmament



On February 12, the Pal System Federation, headquartered in Shinjuku, Tokyo, hosted an online learning session focusing on nuclear disarmament. With over 70 participants, the event prepared them for the 2026 review conferences for the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) and the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW). The discussions aimed to illuminate the global environment surrounding nuclear disarmament and encourage civic participation in building a world free of nuclear weapons.

The theme of the learning session was “Understanding Trends in Nuclear Disarmament Ahead of 2026.” Heio Asano, from the “Japan Campaign for a World without Nuclear Weapons,” served as the guest speaker.
