Thales Academy Cary Gears Up for Campus Expansion with New Building Set to Open in 2026

Thales Academy Cary Expanding Campus

Thales Academy Cary, a prominent member of the Thales Academy network of K–12 independent classical schools, is embarking on an exciting expansion of its existing campus. With a new building set to be completed in early 2026, the school is poised to enhance its educational offerings for students ranging from preschool to high school.

The addition of this building will greatly enrich the campus experience, particularly with the introduction of a gymnasium, locker rooms, and a state-of-the-art engineering lab that will cater to students enrolled in the Luddy Institute of Technology (LIT) pre-engineering program and the Luddy Industrial Arts (LIA) courses. Bob Luddy, the founder of Thales Academy, expressed his enthusiasm about the announcement: "Thales Academy Cary is the first in our network to host all grades from preschool to twelfth grade on one comprehensive campus. We are thrilled to introduce this new facility, which will provide improved amenities for physical education, sports events, performances, and academic programs."

An additional point of excitement stems from the upcoming commencement ceremony for the school's inaugural senior class, which will take place in June 2026 in this new building. Heather Bakogiannis, Head of School for Junior High/High School, remarked, "Our community is eagerly anticipating the unveiling of our expanded academic and athletic facilities. I am particularly overjoyed that the first graduating class will hold their milestone ceremony in this remarkable new space."

The architectural design of the new building will reflect the standards of the existing structures on campus, emphasizing natural light and secure access. It will feature modern safety and security enhancements, including controlled-access doors and surveillance systems. The gymnasium will boast polished hardwood courts, dual bleachers, and designated locker rooms. Furthermore, the engineering lab will be equipped with essential tools and equipment for hands-on learning, ensuring students are well-prepared for future engineering challenges. A welcoming entry area furnished with a baby grand piano is also included as part of this new addition.

Jacqueline Scott, the Pre-K through 5 Head of School, described the new building as “absolutely beautiful,” underscoring the positive impact it will have on the Cary campus. She further noted the entire school community is eagerly waiting for the students to indulge in the newly crafted facilities as soon as they are available.

Located strategically in the central Triangle area on Buck Jones Road near the Crossroads Plaza shopping center, Thales Academy Cary serves families in central and southern Wake County, offering a convenient, high-quality, affordable private education option. For the academic year 2026–2027, tuition is set between $6,000 and $7,600, varying by grade level, with financial aid options such as scholarships and payment plans accessible for families interested in enrollment.
