LG Highlights Customer Value Innovation with New Awards Hall of Fame
In a significant celebration of customer-centric achievements, LG Corporation held the 2025 LG Awards on April 9 at the prestigious LG Academy located in Icheon, South Korea. This year's event marked a historic milestone as it introduced the inaugural LG Awards Hall of Fame, which aims to honor past winners who stood out in delivering customer value innovations.
A Commitment to Customer-Centric Values
LG Corp.'s Chairman and CEO, Kwang Mo Koo, emphasized the company's commitment to putting customers first during his speech. "The most important principle we must uphold is putting the customer first," he stated, highlighting LG's long-standing philosophy that drives the company forward. The Hall of Fame serves not only as a tribute to previous winners but also as a source of inspiration for future innovations among LG employees.
This marks the seventh iteration of the LG Awards, which were first launched in 2019. The awards have recognized a total of 492 teams and over 4,000 individual contributors since their inception. The growth in participation over the years underscores the increasing enthusiasm for innovation and excellence within the organization.
Celebrating Innovation Together
The event drew an impressive crowd of over 500 attendees, including executives from LG, award recipients, and representatives from the customer community. Additionally, around 1,000 employees participated via livestream, reinforcing a sense of community and shared celebration during the award announcements.
The newly established Hall of Fame proudly displays plaques engraved with the names of past recipients of the coveted "Customer Impression Grand Award." Located in the lobby of Yeonam Hall at LG Academy, the Hall of Fame is designed to inspire all LG employees—from newcomers to executives—by showcasing the innovative spirit that consistently prioritizes customer satisfaction.
Recognizing Excellence in Customer Innovation
This year, the LG Awards honored 87 teams and a total of 680 individuals for their impressive contributions to customer experience innovation. Notable winners included the Clean View feature developed by Seong Kuk Moon of LG Electronics, which allows users to inspect and clean the inside of air conditioning units easily, tackling hygiene concerns directly.
Honoring Group Efforts
In the group category, LG Energy Solution's team was recognized for developing a logistics solution that utilizes autonomous mobile robots to optimize operations within battery production facilities. The Optical Solutions Division at LG Innotek received accolades for their advancements in camera module technology that enhance user experience.
Among other key innovations recognized this year were a generative AI model from LG AI Research and a real-time voice phishing detection technology by LG Uplus, showcasing the breadth of customer-focused innovation that LG fosters.
An Evolving Evaluation Process
This year’s awards also featured a substantial change in the evaluation process. For the first time, customer feedback was gathered not only from individuals but also from groups, incorporating insights from homemakers, professionals, and international consumers. The involvement of LG employees in judging increased significantly, from 10,000 last year to more than 14,000 this year, underscoring the growing investment in recognizing exceptional customer experiences.
As LG navigates through an era of increasing global challenges, including trade barriers and competitive markets, the ongoing focus remains on relentless innovation designed to benefit customers worldwide. The introduction of the Hall of Fame epitomizes LG's dedication to maintaining a culture of excellence in customer value, continuing its legacy of innovation and deeper connection with customers. As we look ahead, LG aims to build on these strong foundations, nurturing a future where innovative solutions meet and exceed customer needs across the globe.
