On December 13th, 2025, Daikanyama Tsutaya Bookstore located in Shibuya, Tokyo, will host a special event called 'Tsutaya Night Bookstore - Daikanyama Tsutaya Bookstore × SPRING VALLEY BREWERY' starting at midnight. Under the theme 'Kosherinat', in collaboration with SPRING VALLEY BREWERY, attendees can savor the new winter-exclusive craft beer 'Maromi no Ale' while enjoying a series of engaging activities such as a talk session, book recommendations by a concierge, and a guided store tour. Designed to evoke a homely atmosphere, this event offers a unique retreat where guests can escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life to immerse themselves in literature.
The concept of this event ties back to the realization that while the bookstore is frequented by numerous customers, it can be challenging to find a quiet space to read. Launched in the winter of 2023, this initiative has been well-received, allowing limited attendees to enjoy the bookstore's ambiance luxuriously. This year, the event is themed around 'Kosherinat', derived from Norwegian, meaning 'cozy, lovely night'. December's chill and rush create the perfect backdrop for a unique night where books, beers, meals, and lanterns converge for a heartwarming experience.
Event Features:
- - Night Tour: Join the bookstore director and manager as they guide you through Daikanyama Tsutaya Bookstore. Learn about the history, space design, and the craftsmanship behind the shelves, deepening your appreciation for books and the store itself.
- - Talk Session: Held in the lantern-lit lounge 'Anjin', a cozy gathering begins with greetings by SPRING VALLEY BREWERY’s brand manager, Keiichiro Yanagishita. The conversation will feature SPRING VALLEY BREWERY’s brewer, Yoshimi Kitano, and culinary researcher Maki Watanabe, alongside literary concierge Michiko Mamuro, who will recommend books perfect for the 'Kosherinat' theme. Experience the ultimate indulgence for adults.
- - Craft Beer and Cuisine: At the talk session, attendees can enjoy popular craft beers, including 'Maromi no Ale' and 'Houjun Lager 496', complemented by dishes curated by Maki Watanabe.
- - Book Recommendations: Literature concierge Michiko Mamuro will offer a selection of ten must-read books that resonate with the 'Kosherinat' theme. From renowned authors and musicians to stories set in Scandinavia and Christmas-themed short stories, each attendee will leave with a book of their choice.
- - Drink & Food: Guests are welcome to enjoy drinks and snacks from SHARE LOUNGE (excluding alcoholic beverages). Feel free to bring your own food and drinks (note: avoid strong-smelling foods and alcohol).
About SPRING VALLEY BREWERY
Established in 1870 by William Copeland, a Norwegian-American, SPRING VALLEY BREWERY symbolizes the beginning of Japan's beer industry in Yokohama. Recognizing the beautiful springs, this brewery paved the way for future brews. In the 21st century, respect is paid to Copeland's pioneering spirit through the creation of the beer named after the brewery he founded, with 'SPRING VALLEY BREWERY Houjun Lager 496' as one of its flagship products.
