TYBR Health Secures $30 Million Series A Funding for B3 GEL® System Expansion
TYBR Health Secures $30 Million Series A Funding for B3 GEL® System Expansion
In a significant move for medical technology, TYBR Health has recently announced the successful acquisition of $30 million in Series A financing. The funding round, spearheaded by Vensana Capital and Mutual Capital Partners, also saw participation from Neovate Capital Partners and existing investors. This financial boost is set to facilitate the expansion of access to the B3 GEL® System, an innovative product promising to enhance post-surgical recovery.
The B3 GEL® System, which has been cleared by the FDA, is designed to aid in the recovery process after orthopedic surgeries by protecting tendons, ligaments, muscles, and the surrounding tissues. This unique flowable extracellular matrix hydrogel not only promotes better healing but also integrates seamlessly into existing surgical workflows, addressing a long-standing need among surgeons for improved post-operative care.
Tim Keane, PhD, co-founder and CEO of TYBR Health, emphasized the importance of managing the healing environment to complement the surgical techniques employed by surgeons. He mentioned, "Surgeons are exceptionally good at the structural repair, but the biology that follows is what determines how it heals. That part of the equation has largely gone unaddressed. Having the B3 GEL® System in their toolkit allows surgeons to influence the healing process positively."
The B3 GEL® System has already been implemented in various surgical procedures, such as those involving the hand, wrist, shoulder, foot and ankle, as well as in sports medicine. Surgeons are actively seeking straightforward solutions to manage and protect healing tissue without increasing the complexity or duration of surgical procedures.
Greg Banker, Partner at Vensana Capital, remarked on the practical advantages of the B3 GEL®, stating, "B3 GEL® adheres where it's applied, conforms to the native anatomy, and forms a protective barrier through the healing window." This functionality has been praised for delivering tangible improvements in post-operative tendon mobility and overall recovery outcomes.
The recent funding round allows TYBR Health to further its mission of transforming post-surgical care. With this investment, the company aims to broaden its product indications and conduct clinical studies that evaluate tissue protection during various orthopedic surgery types. This step signifies a shift in surgical practices, where the focus is not only on mechanical repair but also on the biological conditions necessary for successful recovery.
Vensana Capital and Mutual Capital Partners are excited to play pivotal roles in this initiative, with representatives from both firms joining the TYBR Health Board of Directors to further steer the company towards a future of innovation in the medical technology sector.
As the landscape of orthopedic surgery continues to evolve, TYBR Health is positioned at the forefront, developing critical technologies that promise to enhance patient outcomes and facilitate smoother recovery processes. The B3 GEL® System exemplifies how integrating biological understanding with advanced medical technology can revolutionize surgical practices and patient care.
Having started with the goal of improving recovery following surgery, TYBR Health has continued to focus on delivering solutions that align with modern surgeons' needs—solutions that embody efficiency, effectiveness, and patient-centric care. The company is located in Houston, Texas, and is committed to advancing medical technologies that address core gaps in current surgical practices.
