Osaka-Kansai Expo 2025: Future Life Village Updates

The Osaka-Kansai Expo 2025, themed "Designing a Future Society where Life Shines," is gearing up for an exciting lineup of events at the Future Life Village, an integral part of the Future Life Experience and the TEAM EXPO Pavilion. This space emphasizes 'co-creation' and encourages participant interaction, making it one of the few pavilions where human connection is at the forefront.

Since last year, we have issued multiple newsletters to keep the media informed about the village's latest developments and events aimed at raising awareness ahead of the opening. The Future Life Village boasts a plethora of pavilions and booths that promote diverse collaborations. During the expo, about 170 exchange events will be held, all without the need for prior reservations. Visitors will have the opportunity to discuss and create ideas together on what a future society could look like, embodying the essence of co-creation.

In this June newsletter, we are excited to share some of the participant exchange events planned in the Future Life Village.

2nd Best Practices Day

On June 12, the 2nd Best Practices Day will showcase four outstanding projects aimed at solving significant global challenges. This program highlights quality initiatives under the expo’s theme and demonstrates how they contribute to the creation of improved future societies. Visitors will interact with award-winning participants, allowing for direct dialogue and network-building opportunities.

• - Location: Future Life Village, TE Stage
• - Expected Attendance: 30 participants
• - Prerequisite: No reservation needed.

Participating organizations include:

• - Street Business School: poverty alleviation through entrepreneurship.
• - TEAM KAMIITO: creating beautiful products from paper yarn.
• - Cure Bionics: revolutionizing mobility solutions.
• - Mountain Partnership: bridging traditional fashion with the global market.
• - FAO Publications: developing accessible knowledge through WikiProject.

Future Best Practices Days will also be held on July 10 and August 14.

Future Life Village Exchange Events

The Future Life Village continually hosts events that reflect its core themes of exchange and co-creation. These gatherings provide avenues for various participants to engage in dialogues that lead to collaborative efforts.

Local Roots by Mitsubishi Research Institute (June 13)

This event focuses on food and sustainability through three unique steps:
1. Learn about sustainability initiatives from speakers.
2. Engage in a panel discussion about desired futures post-expo.
3. Create new co-creation activities alongside speakers and attendees.

Hello! TEAM EXPO 2025 Meeting #18 (June 18)

This regular meeting supports engagement and promotes co-creation efforts. Participants will hear about past achievements and the future challenges tackled within the TEAM EXPO program, capped off with a networking session.

Event Salon Kansai (June 17)

This session dives into the synergies between events and communities. Experts will share their experiences and insights into the co-creation processes that foster new values through community interactions.

Co-Design Challenge Program

Centered on reimagining life in Japan, the Co-Design Challenge program will highlight various projects committed to addressing social issues. On June 17, selected presenters will share their journey from concept development to creation during the second event of five scheduled presentations.

TEAM EXPO 2025 Overview

The TEAM EXPO initiative began in October 2020, focusing on forming collaborative networks to implement the expo's theme. By late September 2024, over 2,175 collaborative challenges had been registered, demonstrating widespread engagement and commitment to achieving sustainability goals.

Future Life Village Concept

As part of the Osaka-Kansai Expo, Future Life Village serves as the venue for the Future Life Experience and the TEAM EXPO Pavilion. It embodies innovative displays on future living, giving participants the opportunity to inspire and engage others through experiential presentations.
