Enhancing Remote Work in Chiyoda Ward with CACHATTO Implementation

Challenges in Promoting Remote Work in Chiyoda Ward

Chiyoda Ward, home to many of Tokyo's governmental and corporate offices, has enacted various digital transformation (DX) initiatives aimed at enhancing the productivity of its employees. In line with these efforts, the ward announced the implementation of the remote desktop product from e-Jan Networks, namely CACHATTO, which is designed to improve remote work capabilities.

Chiyoda Ward's DX Strategy and Remote Work

The DX strategy for Chiyoda Ward was created in April 2022 and is set for revision by April 2025. The strategy envisions a future where every resident of Chiyoda holds hope for tomorrow and desires to continue living there. A key focus of this strategy is improving employee productivity, which encompasses a reevaluation of work practices and the establishment of a secure environment conducive to remote work.

Issues Before CACHATTO Implementation

Prior to the introduction of CACHATTO's remote desktop solution, Chiyoda Ward was already using desktop tools. However, the existing system was restrictive due to its one-to-one user-licensing model, limiting remote work access to only a few staff members. This meant that during periods of personnel changes, reconfiguring licenses could take months, effectively blocking certain employees from working remotely during that time.

How CACHATTO's Remote Desktop Addresses These Challenges

With the introduction of CACHATTO's remote desktop, which employs a pricing model based on simultaneous connections, the number of employees able to work remotely surged significantly. With a potential to support 1,000 of the 1,200 staff members in need of remote access, this new solution has dramatically expanded flexibility.

Moreover, it empowers personnel from the Digital Policy Division to manage user registrations and modifications themselves without having to make time-consuming external requests. This has significantly reduced the downtime previously experienced when staff could not work remotely due to relocations or other personnel changes.

Benefits Experienced by Employees Post-Implementation

Since adopting CACHATTO's remote desktop, the number of remote work users has tripled compared to before. Employees now have the ability to work flexibly, whether in preparation for typhoons or heavy snowfall, or to accommodate personal responsibilities such as childcare and elderly care. The streamlined management means that changes to settings can be executed quickly, garnering favorable feedback from staff.

Additionally, the tool’s mobility has allowed employees to work from various locations under different circumstances, enabling them to save field notes or access necessary documents on-the-go, further boosting overall productivity.

Moving forward, e-Jan Networks aims to strengthen and improve its offerings to support remote work and BCP measures in local governments further.
