Vital Materials Unveils Groundbreaking Quantum Flux Technology for Photon Counting Scanners

Vital Materials Unveils VITA Genesis

From August 15 to 17, the 31st China International Medical Equipment Expo (China-Hospeq 2025) took place in Beijing. During this significant event, Vital Materials proudly introduced the VITA Genesis, a pioneering photon counting scanner exclusively designed for the Chinese market. This launch marks a pivotal moment as global medical imaging technology transitions into the era of quantum flux detection, solidifying China's commitment to advancing precision diagnostics and treatment.

Unlike traditional energy integration detectors, the photon counting technology at the heart of the VITA Genesis operates remarkably differently. Typically, conventional X-ray machines convert X-ray photons into visible light before transforming them into electrical signals. However, VITA Genesis employs semiconductor materials that directly use X-ray photons to excite electrons, producing electron-hole pairs that respond proportionally to the energy of each photon. An electric field separates these charge carriers to generate electrical pulses, further processed by application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs) to classify these pulses by energy categories. This innovative approach enhances photon counting accuracy and energy resolution, significantly boosting the diagnostic value of medical imaging.

Presently, the VITA Genesis utilizes three primary detector materials: cadmium zync telluride (CZT), cadmium telluride (CdTe), and deep silicon. Among these, CZT stands out for its extraordinary detection capabilities, paving the way for next-generation medical imaging technologies. The core value of the VITA Genesis does not merely lie in adopting a CZT-based detection solution, but also in mastering the vertical integration technology of photon counting scanners.

This integration comprises several stages, including the purification and fabrication of ultra-pure metals, the growth and treatment of unique crystals, component design and development, integration of tomography systems, and imaging algorithm development. This comprehensive approach establishes a new global paradigm in computed tomography.

The introduction of the VITA Genesis not only represents a remarkable technological advancement but also underscores China's innovative capabilities in medical imaging. As the healthcare sector increasingly adopts advanced imaging solutions, the potential for improved diagnostics and patient outcomes is immense. The VITA Genesis stands as a testament to the remarkable progress being made in the realm of medical technology, promising to redefine the way medical professionals approach diagnosis and treatment.
