From now until December 12, 2025, the immersive treasure hunting experience, "巡って探せ！千住宿の秘宝" (Find the Hidden Treasures in Senju), is taking place in the vibrant area around 北千住駅 (Kita-Senju Station), organized by Takara-shi, a company specialized in creating and managing real-life treasure hunts. This event commemorates the 400th anniversary of Senju’s opening as a lodging town.

Participants will embark on an exciting quest to uncover treasure chests hidden throughout the streets of Senju while solving intricate puzzles. The event not only offers brain-teasing challenges but also showcases the rich history and culture of Senju, along with opportunities to savor local gourmet delights. Feel the thrill of the hunt as you unlock the mysteries of this historic area!

How to Participate

To start your adventure, register on the official website via your smartphone. After registration, head over to the tourist information center known as “千住街の駅” (Senju Street Station) to obtain your treasure hunt quest booklet.

Participants can preview the contents of the booklet online, which includes a search area map useful for planning your route. The treasure hunt quest includes two main paths focused on the "Rimpa of Senju", alongside 15 knowledge quests and around 50 store quests available after registration on the dedicated site.

Discover Senju’s History and Culture

Engaging with knowledge quests can enrich your understanding of Senju's history while allowing you to gather additional points. For example, one of the sites in the knowledge quest is 勝専寺, home to a beautifully crafted wooden statue of Enma. After arriving at the location, you can unlock clues by sending a specific keyword through the dedicated site, further deepening your connection to this historical network.

You can also treat yourself to locally made delicacies like the renowned 筍かけだんご at かどや, grilled perfectly over charcoal—an experience not to be missed!

Connect with Local Businesses

Throughout the treasure hunt, you can seamlessly blend quests with taking a break at local eateries. The 店舗クエスト (Store Quests) allow you to stop at various shops for takeout, making for a delicious and convenient experience throughout your adventure. From crispy chicken at local outlets to the delightful cheese gratin crepes at ひよこcrepe & galette, every stop promises to enhance your journey.

Exciting Workshops Await

Engaging workshops can also be found along the way. At ｍinca, a leather craft store, participants can roll up their sleeves to make small leather goods while learning about the art of leather craftsmanship. Completing a leather trinket that features the 400th-anniversary logo will add a unique souvenir to your treasure hunt experience.
