In a significant development for the material handling industry, Toyota Material Handling and The Raymond Corporation have announced their formal integration into a single unified entity, to be known as Toyota Material Handling North America (TMHNA), effective April 1, 2025. This important milestone combines the strengths of two leading providers of material handling solutions in North America, aiming to enhance customer service and innovate further in the sector.

Brett Wood, who currently serves as the President and CEO of Toyota Material Handling North America, will lead the newly integrated organization. Wood expressed his excitement about this historic occasion, noting, "This is a historic day for our company, customers, dealers, and associates. Our customers' needs are evolving rapidly, and we must prepare and adapt to an ever-changing market."

A Commitment to Brand Identity



One key aspect of the integration is TMHNA's commitment to preserving the distinct brand identities of both Toyota and Raymond in the marketplace. This approach aims to maintain and enhance customer relationships, ensuring a seamless transition that respects the unique value propositions both brands have offered over the years.

Historically, Toyota acquired The Raymond Corporation in 2001, and now with this unification, the organization plans to leverage the individual strengths of both companies for increased operational efficiency and enhanced customer solutions. No Job Losses, Only Opportunities



In terms of workforce implications, the integration is not anticipated to result in layoffs. Instead, TMHNA aims to bolster its investment in its employees, providing more resources and support to accelerate growth within the newly unified organization. Wood stated, "Our goal isn't to reduce our workforce, but rather to bring together the strengths, resources, and talent from throughout our organizations. Together, we will create a more dynamic and resilient organization."

Currently, one in every three forklifts sold in North America comes from either Toyota or Raymond, reflecting the strong market presence and performance of both brands.

Manufacturing and Expansion Plans



TMHNA operates through four primary manufacturing plants located in Columbus, Indiana; Greene, New York; Muscatine, Iowa; and East Chicago, Indiana. The organization has recently initiated a substantial expansion strategy, breaking ground on a new 295,000 square-foot facility next to its existing headquarters in Columbus. This new factory, set to open by 2026, will specifically focus on producing electric products, thereby driving down lead times for customers.

Additionally, the company is also investing $50 million to enhance the infrastructure and equipment at its facilities in Greene, New York, and Muscatine, Iowa. Such investments are aligned with TMHNA's overarching strategy of placing customers at the core of their operations and delivering top-tier products and services.

Wood emphasized the commitment to improving customer experience by stating, "Our customers will always be at the center of our strategy, and ultimately, this integration is about doing what is best for our customers."
