Huawei Launches Intelligent RAIL 2.0 at InnoTrans 2026

During the recent InnoTrans 2026, the largest railway transportation fair globally held from September 22 to 25, Huawei introduced its revolutionary Intelligent RAIL 2.0. This latest product range, meticulously crafted for the global railway sector, offers multifaceted smart solutions aimed at enhancing digitalization across the industry. The event drew attention from key industry organizations, including the International Union of Railways (UIC) and the International Public Transport Association (UITP), as well as global customers and ecosystem partners who gathered to discuss the future of rail transportation.

Raymond Zuo, President of Huawei's Smart Rail Business Unit, opened the event by highlighting the pressing need for digital and intelligent technologies in combating traditional issues within the railway sector. He emphasized that the future would see a shift from GSM-R to FRMCS infrastructure and a movement towards predictive maintenance in equipment upkeep. Additionally, logistics will evolve into an end-to-end service model incorporating multimodal transportation.

Keynote speakers included Jean-Michel Evanghelou, Director of Digital Systems and Innovation at UIC, who indicated that the introduction of FRMCS would serve as a foundational step for railway operators to establish a robust digital infrastructure. He also pointed out that the integration of AI applications within core railway systems is increasing, making standardization of AI solutions critical.

Mohamed Mezghani, Secretary-General of UITP, alongside Lidia Signor, the Head of UITP’s Multimodal Transport Division, added depth to the discussions. Signor presented on “Global Metro AI and Automation,” elaborating on a joint report published by UITP and the China Metro Association (CAMET). This significant report encapsulated various applications of AI technologies in the construction, operation, and maintenance of metro systems, shedding light on how these innovations boost operational efficiency and safety in railway transport systems.
