Café Unido Transforms into an All-Day Café and Exciting Creative Hub at La Cosecha

Café Unido: A New Experience Awaits at La Cosecha

After a successful six-year run at La Cosecha, Café Unido has reinvented itself, expanding into a vibrant all-day café, bar, and creative studio that promises to enrich the local experience. This Panama-born coffee brand has transitioned from merely offering coffee to providing a holistic hospitality concept catering to diverse tastes and occasions.

Expanding the Culinary Experience

Café Unido now offers a broad menu that spans breakfast, lunch, dinner, and evening tapas. Morning favorites include signature dishes like the Breakfast Sandwich and El Breakfast Wrap, alongside lighter options like açaí bowls and granola bowls made with in-house coffee granola. For lunch and dinner, customers can savor dishes inspired by Panamanian cuisine, such as carimañolas, which are crispy stuffed yucca fritters, along with chicharrón with lime zest and the unique Panasia Fried Rice, a creative blend of pork belly, mixed vegetables, and hints of both Panamanian and Asian culinary traditions.

In the evenings, the bar complements the kitchen’s offerings with a carefully curated selection of cocktails and wines. Signature cocktails—such as the Old Fashioned Raspadura, made with rye whiskey, raspadura, and bitters, and the Carajillo, featuring espresso and Licor 43—epitomize the thoughtful craftsmanship Café Unido is known for. Guests can also indulge in a thoughtfully designed wine program that mirrors the café's commitment to high-quality, approachable beverages.

A Creative Studio for the Community

One of the most exciting developments at Café Unido is the introduction of Unido Studio, a versatile space formerly dedicated to podcasting. This studio has been reimagined as a creative hub where local artists, musicians, DJs, and community members can convene and collaborate. Equipped with professional turntables and streaming cameras, the studio will host various events, including coffee master classes and jam sessions, enhancing the sense of community. Importantly, locals are encouraged to utilize the studio at no cost, fostering an inclusive environment for creativity.

A Commitment to the Community

Café Unido’s transformation is a direct response to the vibrant community surrounding it. The café aims to be more than just a place that serves coffee and food; it aspires to be a welcome space for gathering and connection throughout the day and into the evening. This commitment to community engagement is reflected in its unique programming and offerings.

As it looks to the future, Café Unido is not stopping with just this location. The brand also operates a café in Shaw and has plans to launch a new coffee shop at The Stacks in Buzzard Point by June 2026. More locations are anticipated in the Washington D.C. area through 2026 and 2027, promising to expand its reach and impact.

Origins and Legacy

Founded in Panama in 2014, Café Unido was born out of a passion to celebrate and elevate Panamanian coffee. Renowned for its 100% Panamanian coffee, the café sources beans grown in the volcanic highlands of Panama directly from producers, emphasizing quality and origin in every cup. Since opening its first D.C. location at La Cosecha in 2019, Café Unido has successfully introduced many to the exquisite world of Panamanian coffee, including the celebrated Geisha varietal.

Café Unido invites everyone to explore its new offerings and experience a place that embodies warmth, community, and a dedication to quality.
