Boston Mutual Life Insurance Welcomes a New Leader
In a significant leadership change, Boston Mutual Life Insurance Company has officially appointed Grant D. Ward Sr., JD, as its new Chief Executive Officer and President, effective January 1, 2026. This transition marks the start of a new chapter for the company, which has been a provider of insurance solutions for many individuals and workplaces across the nation.
Ward steps into this pivotal role as Paul A. Quaranto Jr. prepares for retirement after years of dedicated service. Quaranto’s final day will be December 31, 2025, when he will also step down as President of Life Insurance Company of Boston New York (LICOBNY), a subsidiary of Boston Mutual.
A Trusted Experienced Leader
Having been part of Boston Mutual’s leadership team since 2016, Ward possesses extensive knowledge of the company's operations. Prior to his new role, he held the position of President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) and previously served as General Counsel and Secretary. His deep understanding of customer experience, claims, legal matters, compliance, and facilities management equips him well to lead the company into its next phase.
“I am honored to serve as Boston Mutual Life's next CEO,” shared Ward. “Our policyholders, brokers, and employees are at the heart of everything we do. I aim to continue the positive trajectory that Paul has established, ensuring that we remain focused on delivering affordable insurance solutions tailored to our customers' needs.”
Commitment to Customers and Community
Ward also emphasized the importance of collaboration with broker partners, asserting that their shared commitment to serving customers will be crucial in fulfilling the company's mission. “Together, we will ensure our customers receive the protection they deserve, with a focus on putting them and their families first,” he stated.
His success will rely significantly on the dedication of Boston Mutual's employees, whose passion drives excellent service. Ward’s career before joining Boston Mutual includes notable roles in organizations such as SBLI of Massachusetts, MetLife Financial Services, Deloitte, and even the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
Active in Leadership and Community Service
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Ward is actively involved in various industry organizations, representing Boston Mutual Life at the American Council of Life Insurers (ACLI) and the Life Insurance Association of Massachusetts (LIAM). His commitment extends beyond corporate duties, as he engages with community initiatives such as mentoring young individuals through Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Massachusetts and volunteering for various causes, including Conexion and My Brother's Keeper in Easton, MA.
