Rare Titanic Diamond Ring on Display at Las Vegas Exhibition for the First Time in a Decade

Unveiling a Jewel from the Depths of History

The Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition at the Luxor Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas has unveiled a remarkable piece of history: a rare diamond ring retrieved from the depths of the RMS Titanic's wreck. This exquisite artifact is now on display for the first time in a decade, allowing visitors to connect with the legacy of the ill-fated ship.

The diamond ring features a stunning design with three old European-cut diamonds—a 2-carat pear-shaped centerpiece surrounded by two glittering 1-carat round stones. This unique piece was brought to light during the first recovery expedition by RMS Titanic, Inc. (RMST) in 1987. Discovered inside a leather bag among Titanic's debris, the ring had spent 75 years underwater before careful conservation efforts restored its original brilliance. Experts believe that the bag may have belonged to one of Titanic's pursers, who was entrusted with passengers' valuables during their evacuation.

“This once-in-a-lifetime diamond ring is one of Titanic's more elegant artifacts,” says Tomasina Ray, President and Director of Collections at RMST. “It reflects the sophistication of the Edwardian Era and the personal stories that continue to connect us to Titanic's legacy.”

The recovery of the ring marked a pivotal moment in Titanic exploration history, as the RMST team utilized the submersible Nautile to lift the bag from the ocean floor. The findings, which included various jewelry and personal effects, were sealed since the tragic sinking in 1912. The process was notably featured in the 1987 television special “Return to the Titanic,” hosted by Telly Savalas, showcasing the historical significance of this event.

In addition to the diamond ring, the exhibition hosts hundreds of authentic artifacts retrieved from the ocean floor, offering a fascinating glimpse into the craftsmanship and luxury once enjoyed aboard the world's most famous ocean liner. Among these artifacts is Big Piece, a massive 15-ton section of the ship's hull, making this exhibition the exclusive location worldwide for such displays.

Visitors to the Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition can explore the stories and craftsmanship behind these historical treasures and see firsthand the intricate details that once defined Titanic. The exhibition is located within Luxor Hotel & Casino and operates daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., with last admissions at 5 p.m. For tickets and more information, guests can visit TitanicLasVegas.com.
