A New Milestone in Wine Enjoyment: The Kolibri Glass Series
On February 10, ZWIESEL GLAS officially launches its new handcrafted glass series,
Kolibri, developed in collaboration with Michelin two-star chef Tim Raue. This exciting release marks the culmination of a 26-year partnership that has evolved to redefine the joy of wine enjoyment.
Celebrating a Legacy of Excellence
ZWIESEL GLAS, a reputed name in the glassware industry, has joined forces with Raue, a passionate wine lover and culinary expert, to create glasses that are not only visually stunning but also enhance the sensory experience of wine tasting. The ethos behind the Kolibri series resonates with both parties' commitment to delivering the finest experiences to dining tables.
The Meaning Behind Kolibri
The name
Kolibri derives from the German word for “hummingbird,” symbolizing joy, freedom, creativity, and love. Tim Raue chose this emblematic creature to reflect the flowing lines and delicate craftsmanship synonymous with the series. As a representation of Raue's culinary artistry, Kolibri is designed to bring a sense of lightness and sophistication to the wine experience, elevating it to a whole new dimension.
Unique Craftsmanship and Design
The Kolibri series consists of four exquisite stemmed glass variations, each featuring the engraved emblem of ZWIESEL and Tim Raue on the base. This meticulous collaboration ensures that every glass is handcrafted with precision in ZWIESEL’s own factory in Hungary by skilled artisans.
A Focus on Burgundy Glass
One of the standout designs in the collection is the Burgundy glass, which is particularly significant for Raue and many connoisseurs. He describes Burgundy as the “queen of wines,” with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay being his favorites. The ideal design for the Burgundy glass was paramount; it features a practical stem, an optimal bowl size, and a curvature that enhances aroma without overpowering it. Raue explains, “These wines are not about strength or richness but about conveying a silky and romantic essence.”
The Collection's Specs
Each glass in the Kolibri series is priced at 15,000 yen (excluding tax) and will be available starting February 10 through ZWIESEL’s official online shop, followed by select department stores and interior shops. The collection includes:
