Eco Month Event Overview
Tamaplaza Terrace, a community-based shopping mall operated by Tokyu Malls Development, is set to host an exciting eco-friendly event titled "Eco Month Event - Feeling Resource Circulation through Familiar Things and Actions!" on June 21-22, 2025. Nestled in Yokohama's Aoba Ward, this event aligns with Tokyu's commitment to sustainability through its
Tokyu Malls Development Sustainability Action, which launches in 2023. The primary goals of this initiative include promoting child welfare, achieving a circular economy, and advancing a decarbonized society. The upcoming Eco Month event will revolve around themes of resource circulation and sustainability.
Visitors to Tamaplaza Terrace can engage in various activities designed to educate and inspire about sustainable living. A quiz rally will foster understanding of sustainable practices through interactive questions, and participants can earn prizes for their correct answers. Moreover, workshops using recycled containers collected from local areas will invite creativity as attendees make original uchiwa fans. Visitors can also partake in cosmetics collection initiatives, which aim to highlight Tokyu Malls' sustainability efforts through demonstrated actions on-site.
In addition to these activities, the event will feature an art panel-making workshop utilizing old uniform fabric, where participants can create unique art pieces. The much-loved character 'Norurun' from the Tokyu Line will be present for greeting sessions and photo opportunities, adding a fun layer for families and railway enthusiasts alike. To observe the summer solstice, a "Light Down" event will dim some of the outdoor lights, encouraging attendees to reflect on environmental issues while enjoying the event.
Event Details
A range of events will take place throughout Eco Month, starting with the
SDGs Quiz Rally organized by
Kuradashi. Visitors can explore the facility, answering quizzes related to sustainable practices, with participation running from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM, concluding at 5 PM for final submissions. Goods will be awarded as prizes while supplies last. The quiz rally will be presented at the Gate Plaza on the first floor.
Another fascinating attraction is the freedom to design personalized uchiwa fans from recycled Unilever containers. This workshop will guide participants from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with the last check-in at 4:30 PM. The creative workshop will occur in the Gate Plaza on the second floor.
Additionally, an
upcycled cosmetics campaign invites individuals to contribute unused cosmetic items, which will later be transformed into crayons and candles, promoting hands-on engagement with sustainability.
Community and Environmental Engagement
The event also seeks to engage the local community with a focus on SDG actions through a unique submission area for sharing sustainable practices or ideas, run by
Shibuya SDGs STREET and
Tokyo City University. Visitors who share their contributions will receive exclusive merchandise.
For those interested in the history of Tokyu uniforms, the event will feature a booth for selling unused former uniform shirts at a nominal price of 1,000 yen - while stocks last. Additionally, children can experience wearing the new Tokyu uniform for a photo shoot with a train model, with the session running from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and participant slots managed via ticket distribution.
Overall, the Eco Month event at Tamaplaza Terrace will not only provide entertainment but will also serve as an educational platform, offering visitors the opportunity to learn more about sustainability in an enjoyable environment. This event signifies Tokyu Malls Development's ongoing commitment to foster a sustainable society through community association and education.
