Co-Diagnostics Shows Growth of Vector Smart® with New Federal Initiative on Vector-Borne Diseases

Co-Diagnostics and Its Vector Smart® Initiative

Co-Diagnostics, Inc. (Nasdaq: CODX), a leading player in molecular diagnostics, is gathering attention with its innovative Vector Smart® mosquito surveillance platform. In light of a recent Executive Order aimed at tackling vector-borne diseases, the company is anticipating significant growth in this sector.

On September 29, 2026, the Executive Order titled "Eliminating Disease-Carrying Pests and Restoring Enjoyment of the Great Outdoors" laid down the federal government's commitment to reducing the risks associated with diseases carried by ticks and mosquitoes. The initiative emphasizes improved detection methods, screening processes, and interventions to safeguard public health. Notably, this order mandates that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services champion prize competitions for rapid diagnostic innovations, enhancing the need for revolutionary platforms such as Vector Smart®.

Dwight Egan, the Chief Executive Officer of Co-Diagnostics, expressed excitement regarding the rising significance of rapid and decentralized pathogen detection capabilities in combating vector-borne diseases. He highlighted that the Vector Smart® platform was engineered to meet the challenges in this arena by enabling swift identification and molecular surveillance of mosquito-borne pathogens. By empowering local mosquito control initiatives with in-house molecular testing, Co-Diagnostics is poised to improve response times and local surveillance efficiency, fundamentally augmenting public health protocols.

Among its rich offering, Co-Diagnostics' Vector Smart® includes multiplex PCR assays capable of identifying various pathogens associated with notorious diseases such as West Nile virus, dengue fever, Zika virus, and chikungunya. This capacity to perform in-house PCR testing enables a faster data turnaround for mosquito abatement programs, leading to more effective control strategies. Moreover, numerous diseases mentioned in the Executive Order are directly addressed by the Vector Smart® assays, underscoring its relevance in current health initiatives.

Since its inception, the Vector Smart® program has attracted 40 customers across 21 states in the U.S. A landmark achievement was its first international deployment to a U.S. Air Force base overseas, showcasing its potential on a global scale. There are also ongoing efforts to establish additional laboratory installations in Florida and Indiana, signifying the program's flexibility and growth potential.

Upcoming Engagements and Initiatives

In a bid to strengthen its collaboration with various public health and vector-control stakeholders, Co-Diagnostics will be actively participating in several key forums this fall. One of its major appearances is set for the Utah Global Health Leadership roundtable on October 9, 2026. This event will see Utah's leadership converging to discuss global health initiatives, providing a conducive platform for Co-Diagnostics to engage directly with stakeholders engaged in implementing the federal vector-borne disease initiative.

Moreover, Co-Diagnostics is slated for participation in several significant vector control conferences, including:
  • - Utah Mosquito Abatement Association (UMAA) from October 26-28
  • - Florida Mosquito Control Association (FMCA) from November 9-11
  • - Oregon Mosquito and Vector Control Association (OMVCA) from November 12-13, featuring a dedicated Co-Dx presentation
  • - Louisiana Mosquito Control Association from December 8-10

To further enhance customer interaction, Co-Diagnostics will host a webinar specifically for current and prospective mosquito abatement customers on November 17, 2026. Interested parties are welcomed to pre-register for insights into the Vector Smart® initiative.
