Bringing the In-Game Timepiece to Life

The inspiration for this unique product stems from the captivating pocket watch seen in "Tales of Xillia 2." The creation process focused on two main objectives: to closely mirror the watch’s in-game charm and to make it accessible not only for watch enthusiasts but also for the wide range of fans celebrating the franchise. Extensive prototyping and verification were carried out to ensure the best possible representation within the limited production constraints.

The designers aspire for this pocket watch to serve as a small bridge connecting the timeless narrative of the game with fans' real-life experiences, allowing them to hold a piece of the game's universe in their hands.

Unique Design Features

One notable feature of the in-game pocket watch is its distinctive circular hand movement around the outer edge of the case. However, due to the fundamental differences in how physical clock movements operate, replicating this design literally was challenging. Instead, the creators adopted a visual effect approach to achieve a similar aesthetic.

To enhance the visual impression, a new mold was designed to integrate the case's structural design onto the watch face. The case was meticulously adjusted to its narrowest limits, and a metal film was affixed to a textured watch face to create a dynamic play of light and shadow at different angles.

Innovative Movement Mechanism

To replicate the visually intriguing circular hand movement, instead of a traditional hand, a transparent disk printed with the hand design was utilized (known as a disk indicator). Utilizing a specialized movement manufactured by Seiko’s MIYOTA group, the watch moves the disk independently, effectively producing the illusion of a hand moving around the perimeter. It's worth noting that the quartz mechanism leads to a ‘tick-tock’ motion rather than a smooth continuous movement, adding character to the experience.

Special Limited Production

Only 2012 pieces of this exquisite timepiece will be made available. Each piece will have its edition number randomly assigned, showcasing its limited nature. The backside features engravings of the title "Tales of Xillia 2" alongside a certification of its exclusivity, highlighting the production year.

Additionally, the watch comes packaged in a specially designed watch box, inspired by the game's title color, featuring an appealing ruby-pink foiled finish, along with a beautifully illustrated guarantee card.
