Previously a partner in the Financial Services Group at McCarthy Tétrault LLP, she adeptly led the National Insurance and Reinsurance Group. She holds a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Toronto, a Master of Arts in International Political Studies from Queen's University, and a Bachelor of Arts from Mount Allison University. Notably, she also possesses the ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors and Rotman School of Business, showcasing her commitment to corporate governance.

On the other hand, John Montalbano brings extensive expertise in wealth and asset management, having served in senior executive roles at the Royal Bank of Canada. His experience includes acting as the Chief Executive Officer of RBC Global Asset Management and Vice Chair of RBC Wealth Management. Montalbano is currently the Principal of Tower Beach Capital Ltd., focusing on venture capital investments. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst and holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of British Columbia, positioning him as a knowledgeable asset in the financial landscape.

The addition of Carroll and Montalbano to Manulife's Board is seen as a beneficial move.
