Innovating Government Workflows: GovTech Tokyo at Developers Summit 2026

From February 18 to 20, 2026, a significant event for IT engineers, the Developers Summit 2026, will take place. One of the highlights of this event will be a presentation by Ayumu Hashimoto, head of the AI Innovation Office at GovTech Tokyo. The focus will be on the integration of AI and technological innovation into government operations, aiming to enhance the productivity of public servants.

In recent years, there has been a growing trend of utilizing AI to streamline administrative tasks, thereby allowing officials to allocate more time to value-added activities. Through collaboration with the Tokyo Digital Service Bureau, GovTech Tokyo is developing a GenAI platform. This innovative platform enables the development of applications with no coding required, utilizing open-source software.

Currently, administrative staff are actively working on creating a legal search chatbot that leverages this platform. During his session, Hashimoto will be joined by team members responsible for the development, sharing their firsthand experiences and insights into the practicalities of implementing AI within government frameworks.
