Hiroshima Frescobol Club Announces Free Experience and Practice Session at Hiroshima Stadium Park on April 19th

Experience the Joy of Frescobol in Hiroshima

The Hiroshima Frescobol Club, an official regional club recognized by the Japan Frescobol Association (JFBA), is excited to announce a free Frescobol experience and practice event scheduled for the morning of April 19, 2026, at Hiroshima Stadium Park. This initiative aims to promote the thrilling beach sport of Frescobol, known for its emphasis on cooperation over competition.

Frescobol originated in 1945 on the beaches of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and has since gained popularity worldwide. The sport involves two players rallying together, focusing on maintaining a continuous play rather than competing against each other. This unique aspect allows participants to enjoy the game anytime, anywhere, and with anyone. The Hiroshima Frescobol Club, led by Masayuki Amano, usually practices at Bayside Beach Saka but will be expanding its activities to include regular sessions at Hiroshima Stadium Park beginning this April.

Hiroshima Stadium Park is situated right in front of the home stadium of Sanfrecce Hiroshima and is a beloved green space where locals flock to relax, especially on days when no matches are scheduled. The Frescobol Club has registered its activities with the park's community circle, aiming to further spread awareness and participation in this engaging sport. The free event will take place from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM on April 19, and walk-ins are encouraged—everyone is welcome to come and join!

What is Frescobol?

Frescobol is more than just a sport; it is a “communication design sport” that fosters friendship and collaboration. The game is played over a distance of 7 meters, with teams engaging in rallies for a duration of 5 minutes. Unlike traditional competitive sports, Frescobol encourages players to work together to keep the ball in play, promoting a culture of understanding and empathy—making it a true “sport of caring.”

The Japan Frescobol Association is dedicated to enhancing the presence of Frescobol in Japan and has established collaborative agreements with the international Frescobol federation (FEFERJ) to unify rules globally, paving the way for the creation of the world's first international organization, UAFI, aimed to be formalized by October 2025.

Currently, the JFBA has registered 29 certified regional clubs and 5 student organizations, showcasing the sport's growing appeal across the country. The upcoming event at Hiroshima Stadium Park marks a significant step in promoting Frescobol in the region, and we encourage everyone to come out and experience the joy of this unique collaborative sport!

Don't miss this opportunity to discover a new pastime that offers fun, fitness, and friendship!
