Exploring the Future of Construction DX: A Seminar on Data Integration and Automation

Seminar on the Future of Construction DX

On June 16, 2026, starting at 1 PM, Sankei Shimbun will hold an online seminar titled "Exploring the Future of Construction DX: Data Integration and Automation from BIM/CIM to Back Office Operations". This event aims to recruit participants interested in the latest developments in construction digital transformation (DX).

During this seminar, leading experts and pioneers will share their pragmatic insights derived from trial-and-error processes on the front lines. Attendees will gain valuable hints for driving productivity improvements through transformation encompassing everything from the latest applications of Building Information Modeling (BIM) to efficient collaboration within back office operations.

The keynote speech will be delivered by Professor Nobuaki Yabuki from Tokyo City University, who chairs the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism's BIM/CIM Promotion Committee. He will delve into the essence of BIM/CIM and discuss the future of construction automation.

Special Lectures

Lecture 1: Practical BIM and Back Office Integration from a Local General Contractor's Perspective

Presented by Kentaro Hiratsuka, BIM Manager at Ogawa Construction and part-time lecturer at Monozukuri University, along with Tomo Kobayashi from the Business Promotion Department at Ogawa Construction.
In this session, they will explore Ogawa Construction's DX promotion journey utilizing BIM/CIM as a core framework, showcasing how they navigated obstacles and implemented emerging technologies such as Augmented Reality (AR), point cloud data, and 3D printing. They will also introduce flexible operational strategies for seamlessly connecting on-site and back-office functions through what they term "supportive DX".

Lecture 2: Strategies for Achieving Competitive Advantage through 'Internalization'

Led by Yasuki Sato, head of the Digital Transformation Implementation Department at Toda Corporation. This speech emphasizes that merely adopting external services does not guarantee a competitive edge in construction. He will share insights on developing a deep understanding of current operations through trial and error, alongside co-development strategies with vendors to internalize digital outcomes. The session will highlight practical examples of how companies can enhance their differentiation by taking ownership of digital initiatives instead of relying on external solutions.

Sponsorship

The seminar will also feature presentations from supporting companies, including InfoMart and Mitsumore, enhancing the overall dialogue on digital transformation in construction.
