Hertz Teamsters Celebrate Successful Contract Ratification in Texas and Florida

Hertz Teamsters Achieve Significant Contract Wins in Texas and Florida

On February 20, 2025, it was announced that Hertz Teamsters, represented by Local 745 at the Dallas-Fort Worth Airport (DFW) and Local 769 at Palm Beach International Airport (PBI), have successfully ratified new collective bargaining agreements. This development comes after a series of strikes aimed at improving working conditions, wages, and benefits for the workers involved.

The new three-year contracts feature notable advancements including wage increases, enhanced vacation policies, and tool allowances specifically for mechanics. This outcome is viewed not merely as a win for wages, but as a significant victory for worker respect and improved working conditions.

Chief Steward Ebony Mason from Local 745 reflects on the struggles, emphasizing, "This strike wasn't just about wages — it was about respect, better working conditions, and securing a future for all of us. We fought, we held the line, and we won real improvements that will benefit every member." The workers in Texas were on strike for five weeks, while those in Florida stood firm for two weeks, showcasing their commitment to achieving these goals.

Brent Taylor, the Secretary-Treasurer of Local 745 and Southern Region International Vice President, underscored the importance of solidarity among the workers: "Our members stood strong and sent a clear message that they won't settle for less. Through the support of the Teamsters Industrial Trades Division and workers' determination, we were able to secure a contract that delivers meaningful wage increases, better work-life balance, and stronger protections. This is what Teamsters' strength looks like."

Josh Zivalich, President of Local 769, honored the unwavering commitment of the South Florida workers stating, "We are incredibly proud of the 769 Hertz members across South Florida who stood together in unwavering solidarity against the company's unreasonable demands and substandard contract offers. Their strength and unity proved that when we are united, we win."

This collective effort by Teamsters in both Texas and Florida exemplifies the essence of union solidarity and determination in fighting for fair working conditions. Founded in 1903, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters has grown to represent 1.3 million dedicated individuals in the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico. This recent contract ratification is just another chapter in their enduring quest for workers' rights and improved workplace conditions.
