Upcycling Project Introduced: Circlife
Overview
In an admirable fusion of creativity and sustainability, RIN Inc. has teamed up with Moririn Co., Ltd. and Uragami Co., Ltd. to launch the Circlife project. This initiative breathes new life into materials deemed past their prime—specifically discarded flowers, clothing, and furniture—by recycling and transforming them into functional, stylish furniture pieces.
What is Circlife?
The name Circlife symbolizes a “circular life,” highlighting the project's mission to revive and circulate materials that have ended their original lifecycle. Unlike typical recycling, the Circlife project emphasizes a thoughtful approach where the memories associated with these materials are preserved and honored. The collaboration promises innovative designs with a commitment to sustainability, enhancing everyday living with upcycled treasures.
Contributions from the Three Companies
RIN is providing ‘Loss Flowers®’, which refers to beautiful blooms that lose their purpose after events and celebrations. These flowers, typically discarded while still vibrant, will undergo drying and painting processes to be integrated as art pieces in furniture designs.
Moririn introduces ‘PANECO®’, an ecological fiber recycling board that repurposes various textiles, including fabrics leftover from clothing production. This board can be recycled again after its initial use, making it a sustainable option for furniture manufacturing.
Uragami is responsible for collecting, disassembling, and reconstructing discarded furniture and fixtures into unique pieces. Their expertise brings character and history to each item, echoing stories within the created spaces.
Product Lineup
The Circlife project already showcases several furniture items, including:
- - GLASS (BEIGE)
- - HIKIDO (LIGHT)
- - KANNON (BLACK)
These pieces not only serve functional purposes but also tell stories through their materials, reflecting a rich history.
