Record Financial Performance by Western Midstream in Q2 2026 and Updated Projections for Annual Growth

Western Midstream Partners, LP (NYSE: WES) has recently reported outstanding financial results for the second quarter of 2026, marking a significant leap in both profitability and operational efficiency. The company announced a net income of $394.9 million attributable to limited partners, translating to $0.99 per diluted unit. Significantly, the company achieved a record quarterly Adjusted EBITDA of $736.5 million, reflecting a remarkable 19% increase compared to the same period last year. This surge can be attributed to a combination of record throughput, particularly from the produced-water segment and the strategic acquisition of Brazos Delaware II, LLC.

In addition to the impressive financial metrics, Western Midstream has announced a Distributable Cash Flow of $537.2 million for Q2 2026. This figure underscores the company’s commitment to maintaining robust cash returns to its stakeholders, with a consistent distribution of $0.930 per unit per quarter. The annualized distribution for the year stands at $3.72 per unit, affirming the firm’s stability and financial health.

As part of its guidance updates, Western Midstream revised its 2026 Adjusted EBITDA forecast to a range between $2.750 billion and $2.950 billion, indicating a midpoint increase of $250 million or 10% compared to previous projections. This update reflects not only the strong performance in the first half of the year but also the anticipated benefits from the recent acquisition and increasing commodity prices. Similarly, the company’s Distributable Cash Flow guidance has been uplifted to between $2.050 billion and $2.250 billion, reinforcing a bullish outlook for the upcoming quarters.

Operating activities also saw a significant influx of $534.7 million, leading to a Free Cash Flow of $263.6 million in the second quarter. Furthermore, Western Midstream is reaffirming its total capital expenditure guidance, forecasting expenditures to range from $850 million to $1 billion as it continues to invest strategically in its operations and infrastructure, notably in the rapidly developing Powder River Basin.

The second quarter also witnessed enhancements to Western Midstream’s operational footprint, particularly through the execution of new gathering and processing agreements in the Powder River Basin. These agreements add approximately 270,000 dedicated acres to the company’s operations, strategically positioning Western Midstream for substantial natural gas throughput growth in 2027.

President and CEO Oscar K. Brown emphasized the strength of the company's diversified operations, particularly citing the increase in throughput that has propelled Adjusted EBITDA to record levels. He expressed confidence in the ongoing growth trajectory supported by advantageous commodity pricing and disciplined operational management strategies.

Brown remarked, "Our record results in Q2 reflect not only our operational efficiency but also the depth of our three-stream strategy, which encompasses natural gas, crude oil, and produced water. This strategy ensures we capture relevant revenue streams and provides our partners with reliable flow assurances necessary for their developmental plans."

Looking ahead, Western Midstream's management has noted that elevated activity levels among Delaware Basin producers are expected to further bolster throughput numbers, leading to promising volume growth in both natural gas and produced water segments. Continuous investment in infrastructure projects like the Pathfinder produced-water pipeline will bolster this growth.

As the company prepares for future developments in 2026, optimism is high within the organization, as management remains focused on executing on its strategic growth objectives while returning capital to unitholders. Western Midstream continues to reinforce its market position as a critical player in the oil and gas industry by combining operational excellence with an adaptive growth strategy.
