AANA Strongly Condemns UnitedHealthcare's Anesthesia Reimbursement Policy



The American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology (AANA) has taken a firm stance against UnitedHealthcare's (UHC) newly implemented reimbursement policy, which they claim discriminates against Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs). This policy will lead to a 15% reduction in compensation for CRNAs who operate independently, prompting severe concerns regarding its implications for patient care access.

AANA President Jeff Molter has stated, "This policy is not only unlawful but is a pure money grab for UnitedHealthcare." According to Molter, UHC has failed to present any research or evidence suggesting that the reduction in anesthesia reimbursement will positively affect either patient care or insurance premiums.
