Cannes Unveils First AI-Driven Feature Film Lineup for 2025
In a historic moment for the film industry, Cannes has announced the first lineup of feature films driven by artificial intelligence (AI), a groundbreaking collaboration between Intelliflicks, a generative AI studio based in India, veteran Hollywood producer Tony DeRosa-Grund, and Visual Alchemy LLC. This initiative aims to transform the filmmaking landscape by harnessing the power of AI technology to streamline production and enhance creativity.
Redefining Filmmaking with AI
The partnership emphasizes not only the time-saving aspects of AI but also its potential to elevate storytelling. According to Gurdeep Pall, co-founder of Intelliflicks and former corporate vice president of Microsoft, the generative AI system can cut traditional film production costs and time by 75%, making it feasible to create projects that would typically be too expensive for studios or streaming platforms. Pall argues that this innovative approach empowers smaller studios and even independent producers, leveling the playing field in a competitive industry.
Tony DeRosa-Grund added, “Our model, which we call HyGenAI, doesn’t replace creative artists like actors, writers, and directors. Instead, it empowers them, allowing them to explore new creative avenues.” The HyGenAI model positions filmmakers to actively produce groundbreaking cinema rather than merely predicting trends.
Proof of Concept
Not just an aspiration, this AI-driven initiative is already in action. Intelliflicks has commenced production of its inaugural AI-generated feature titled **
