Civista Bancshares Welcomes Mark J. Sams as Chief Revenue Officer



Civista Bancshares, Inc. (NASDAQ: CIVB) recently announced the appointment of Mark J. Sams as its new Senior Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer. This strategic move is aimed at strengthening the executive leadership team of both Civista Bancshares and its banking subsidiary, Civista Bank.

As Chief Revenue Officer, Sams will oversee critical areas such as Treasury Management, Wealth Management, Private Banking, Healthcare Solutions, and various growth initiatives. His extensive experience and leadership in these domains are expected to play a pivotal role in guiding the company towards its ambitious growth objectives.

Leadership Role and Experience


Mark J. Sams has been a part of the Civista team since being promoted to Senior Vice President and Senior Revenue Officer in January 2026. Chuck Parcher, President and CEO of Civista Bank, acknowledged the critical role that Mark plays in the organization's growth strategy, emphasizing his credit discipline and market expertise. “Mark’s leadership sits at the center of our growth strategy,” Parcher stated, reflecting the confidence the executive team has in Sams’s abilities.

With more than 25 years of experience in banking, Sams's career spans across various sectors including commercial banking, credit administration, business development, and risk management. He previously served as the Chief Credit Officer at United Community Bank before transitioning to Civista Bank as Regional Market Executive for Cincinnati and Southeast Indiana, following the bank's acquisition of UCB in 2018.

Educational Background


Sams holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Illinois and has completed the Graduate School of Banking program at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. His educational background complements his professional experience, making him a valuable asset to the organization.

In addition to his corporate roles, he actively contributes to the community by serving as Secretary of the Civista Charitable Foundation and Treasurer of the Dearborn Community Development Company, reinforcing his commitment to civic engagement and social responsibility.
