Parco and Yami's Immersive Horror Experience
In an exciting collaboration, Parco Co., Ltd. and Yami, a groundbreaking horror creative company, present the immersive exhibition titled "Zankyō Shinenten - Sound and Emotion Lab." Starting from June 26, 2026, this innovative horror experience will open in the PARCO FACTORY located on the 7th floor of Ikebukuro’s Parco Main Building. This captivating event is designed to engage the audience’s senses through sound, offering a unique twist on the traditional horror experience.
Previously, Yami has successfully attracted over 400,000 visitors through events like the "Missing Persons Exhibit" and the "Fear Heart Exhibit." Their latest endeavor invites attendees to step into a lab where soundscapes manipulate perception, rewiring emotions and conjuring the unseen. Lead navigator Seikai Ozaki, known for his stories in the realm of online horror, will guide participants through this unconventional audio terror that focuses on the sensations evoked by auditory experiences rather than the visual, classic haunted house tactics.
Experience the Unknown Through Sound
The concept behind this exhibition is to showcase how sound can influence human cognition. Participants will find themselves as test subjects in a series of experimental rooms designed to explore the boundaries of fear—a fear that is not seen but rather felt through an uncanny use of sound. Quotes from Ozaki reveal his thoughts on the nature of sound and perception. He articulates an unsettling sentiment about the reliability of the human ear compared to the heart and eyes.
Ozaki states, "The part of the body I trust the least is my ear, second only to my heart. The ear has always had a peculiar distance, almost as if it were on loan from someone else—much unlike the intimacy I have with my heart. This exhibition centers on how sounds perceived through the ear can amplify feelings within the heart. It’s truly bizarre. After all, it’s the 'other' that I find hardest to trust."
The Experiment: Sound and Emotion Lab
In exploring the hidden fears that lurk in daily life, the exhibition manages to effectively intertwine 'resonance' with unseen 'thoughts' (referred to as 'shinenten'). It suggests a fascinating question: Could sound (resonance) alone conjure the invisible presence (thin) of fear? Throughout the exhibition, guests will traverse six experimental rooms dedicated to exploring this intersection of fears and emotions. Attendees will experience first-hand how sound can distort their everyday perception, filling the spaces with eerie resonances that linger even after exiting.
