Mercy Appoints Lina Scroggins as Chief Product Officer

In an exciting development for the healthcare landscape, Mercy has announced the appointment of Lina Scroggins as its new Chief Product Officer, effective immediately. This move is part of Mercy's ongoing commitment to simplify and enhance patient care through innovative technology.

Lina Scroggins brings nearly two decades of invaluable experience from her tenure at Google, where she played a key role in shaping Google Health. Her expertise in leading digital transformation projects for major health systems has positioned her as a leader in creating tools aimed at personalizing and streamlining healthcare.

The healthcare sector often lacks roles that focus on product innovation, but at Mercy, this is seen as a critical element of the organization’s identity. Steve Mackin, President and CEO of Mercy, commented, "Lina possesses a remarkable ability to translate complex concepts into practical solutions that can significantly improve patient care. Her vision will elevate Mercy's digital offerings—from scheduling appointments to follow-up care—creating a seamless and user-friendly experience for patients."

In her new role, Scroggins will spearhead efforts to enhance Mercy's online platforms, including the widely used mercy.net, the MyMercy app, and the contact center. She aims to ensure that patients can access care as conveniently and directly as possible.

Educated at premier institutions, Scroggins holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from Harvard University, as well as two master's degrees: one in experimental psychology from the University of Cambridge and another in clinical psychology from Washington University in St. Louis. Notably, she is a Gates Cambridge Scholar, demonstrating her commitment to excellence in her field.

Scroggins emphasizes the importance of listening to patients and learning from their experiences. "My first job is to listen. Our patients show us every day what's working and what isn't. I want to understand their experiences so we can improve care at every step and create a supportive pathway for them."

Mercy is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United States, renowned for delivering high-quality care to millions of patients annually. It has been recognized for its superior patient experience by NRC Health. With over 55 hospitals and numerous outpatient facilities, Mercy is well-equipped to deliver integrated care across multiple states, including Arkansas, Illinois, Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma.

For fiscal year 2025, Mercy reported providing more than half a billion dollars in free care and community benefits, reaffirming its mission to serve underprivileged populations while maintaining high-quality healthcare standards.

In conclusion, the appointment of Lina Scroggins as Chief Product Officer represents a significant step towards enhancing patient care for Mercy. With her innovative mindset and extensive background, Scroggins is poised to drive meaningful changes in the healthcare system, ensuring that quality care is more accessible and connected than ever before.
