Experience the charm of the Showa era this autumn with the Tokyo Sakura Tram (Toei Arakawa Line) Quiz Rally, organized by the Tokyo Metropolitan Bureau of Transportation in collaboration with the Arakawa, Kita, Toshima, and Shinjuku districts. From September 12 to October 18, 2023, participants can explore retro spots along the tram line while engaging in an entertaining quiz.

Event Details



From September 12 (Saturday) to October 18 (Sunday), the quiz rally invites participants to immerse themselves in a nostalgic journey through Tokyo’s vibrant neighborhoods. The event encourages the exploration of commercial streets and other classic landmarks that evoke a sense of nostalgia. By partaking in this interactive quiz, riders will not only have fun but also discover the rich history and unique culture of the Showa era. The Toei One-Day Pass (adult 400 yen, child 200 yen) is recommended for cost-effective travel during the event. Digital tickets for the Tokyo Sakura Tram are also available for purchase.

How to Participate



To join the quiz rally:
1. Obtain a quiz booklet at any of the quiz points located at ten designated facilities along the route.
2. Visit each quiz point, where you can fill in the answers in your quiz booklet before submitting it into the designated ballot box.
3. Prizes will be awarded through a draw based on the number of correct answers, offering exciting rewards related to the tram and the district.
4. Winners will be announced through the dispatch of prizes scheduled for mid-November 2023.

Quiz Booklet Distribution


The quiz booklets will be available from September 12 (Saturday) at the opening hours of each facility, and will continue until they run out. You can acquire them at:
  • - Each quiz point location
  • - Various Tokyo Metro stations (excluding Shinjuku station on the Shinjuku line, and including Nippori and Toneri Liner Nippori station, as well as the Arakawa Tram Depot)
