Yanekabe Unveils Innovative Heat Point System for Summer Welfare

Yanekabe's Summer Initiative: Heat Point System

In an effort to support its skilled roofers who bravely tackle challenging summer conditions, Yanekabe, managed by Protimes General Research Institute, has revamped its employee welfare program. This year, the company reintroduces its innovative 'Heat Point System', which rewards workers based on the temperature during their shifts.

Understanding the Heat Point System

The system will run from July 2 to August 30 this year, allowing workers to accumulate points that can be redeemed for a variety of attractive prizes. The process is straightforward: the hotter the day, the more points workers can earn. The points are awarded incrementally based on the daily high temperatures exceeding 30 degrees Celsius, promoting not just productivity but also a motivated workforce.

For instance, a day that reaches 30.5 degrees earns an employee 0.5 points, scaling up based on each half-degrees increase. Points can be exchanged for a range of rewards, including travel vouchers for hot spring trips, dining experiences, or even refreshing drinks, catering to various preferences and encouraging employees to cherish their hard work under the sun.

A Response to Rising Temperatures

Founded in 2010, Yanekabe has successfully completed over 35,000 projects, establishing itself as a trusted name in the roofing and exterior restoration industry. The introduction of the Heat Point System in 2022 came as a direct response to extreme weather conditions. With average summer temperatures on the rise and roofs reaching surface temperatures of over 70 degrees Celsius, the need for such recognition and reward has never been greater.

The initial year of the program was modest, with only two employees surpassing 90 points. However, this year, every participant exceeded 100 points, averaging at 126.4 points. Predictions for 2024 suggest this number could rise to 135.5 points, reflecting an enthusiastic participation among workers and a boost in morale amidst harsh working conditions.

Proactive Measures for Employee Safety

As employee safety regulations evolve, with new amendments coming into effect in 2025, which mandate protective measures in extreme heat, Yanekabe has been ahead of the curve. The company has already implemented measures such as providing air-conditioned work outfits, ensuring hydration during breaks, and regular health checks during work hours. This commitment not only safeguards the health of its workforce but also cultivates a culture of care and concern within the company.

Prize Exchange and Flexibility

This year's program has increased flexibility, allowing employees to redeem their accumulated points multiple times, unlike previous years where exchanges were limited to one per participant. This change caters to the diverse needs of employees, enabling them to enjoy rewards as they see fit.
