This survey was conducted through internet research using Freasy, and targeted to adults aged 20 and above with experience in cryptocurrency usage. A total of 181 valid responses were collected from 132 men and 49 women between September 10 and September 23, 2025, primarily from Japan.
Most Frequently Used Cryptocurrency Apps
According to the data gathered, Coincheck emerged as the most utilized cryptocurrency platform, with 34.8% of respondents having experience with it. This was closely followed by bitFlyer at 29.3% and Rakuten Wallet at 20.4%. Notably, Coincheck also received the highest rating for usability, with 23.8% of users favoring it as the easiest app to operate, indicating its strong user interface and experience.
Preferred Devices for App Usage
The survey highlighted smartphone usage as the dominant device for accessing cryptocurrency applications, with 43.1% of participants indicating they primarily utilize their phones for this purpose. Desktop PCs followed at 26.0%, showing that while mobile devices are popular, traditional computing still holds relevance. About 39.8% of participants reported using their apps infrequently, with active daily traders representing only around 20% of the surveyed users.
Core Features Used in Cryptocurrency Apps
When asked about the functionalities they employ the most, 56.4% of respondents indicated they primarily use chart viewing features, while 35.9% utilize the buy/sell orders for physical assets. Other functionalities, including fund transfers and market news, were less frequently used, each garnering 21.0% of the responses. Respondents expressed a desire for enhancements primarily in performance and stability, with 37.0% citing the need for improved app responsiveness and 25.4% highlighting smoother deposit and withdrawal processes.
User Satisfaction and Areas for Improvement
Interestingly, while Coincheck was recognized as the most user-friendly app, other platforms like bitFlyer and Rakuten Wallet shared similar satisfaction ratings at 17.1%. Users called for enhancements in areas beyond chart functionalities; there was a notable demand for increased operational stability (37.0%) and enhanced security features (23.2%), as well as better user interface clarity (22.1%). The necessity for customized notifications was highlighted by 13.8% of participants.
