15 Years of the Tohoku Fukko Bento Series

Starting March 6, 2026, JR East's Cross Station Food Company will unveil the 14th edition of the Tohoku Fukko Bento, a railway lunchbox series created to honor the memory and resilience of Tohoku's recovery from the Great East Japan Earthquake. This year marks a significant milestone, celebrating a total of 1.15 million bento boxes sold in this ongoing initiative.

The latest offering, titled “Tohoku Fukko Bento – Want to Eat, Want to Go, Tohoku Now,” promises a vibrant selection representing the best of the six Tohoku prefectures. Each bento is designed to encapsulate the rich flavors and diverse landscapes of Tohoku, abundant in treasures from both land and sea. Launched in October 2011 with the collaboration of the Tohoku branch of the Small and Medium Enterprise Agency, the Tohoku Fukko Bento series was conceived with a noble mission.
