Prologue Medicines Strengthens Leadership with New Chief Scientific Officer

Prologue Medicines Announces Appointment of Dr. Stephen Harrison

Prologue Medicines, a prominent biotechnology firm, has announced a significant addition to its leadership team with the appointment of Dr. Stephen Harrison as Chief Scientific Officer (CSO). This strategic move intends to further bolster the company's innovative approach by unlocking the therapeutic potential of viral proteins for new medications.

With more than three decades of experience in biotechnology research and development, both in the United States and the United Kingdom, Harrison brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to Prologue. As the new CSO, he will play a pivotal role in directing the company’s scientific and R&D strategy, particularly in advancing Prologue’s DELVE™ platform, which is crucial for discovering viral protein-derived therapies.

Lovisa Afzelius, Co-Founder and CEO of Prologue Medicines, expressed confidence in Harrison’s abilities. She noted, “Stephen has built R&D organizations that translate novel biology into medicines across some of the industry's most technically ambitious platforms.” Harrison’s extensive experience with various drug modalities and his understanding of maximizing patient impact are anticipated to greatly benefit Prologue as it expands its DELVE platform and pipeline of potential treatments.

Dr. Harrison's previous role was as CSO of Nucleome Therapeutics, and he has held executive positions at Engine Biosciences, Relypsa, and KAI Pharmaceuticals. His contributions to the development of FDA-approved medicines, such as Veltassa and Parsabiv, demonstrate his capability to steer projects toward clinical success.

Highlighting the innovative approach at Prologue, Harrison explained the potential of viral proteins, stating, “Through evolution, viral proteins have developed novel ways to engage with human biology, creating an opportunity to harness those mechanisms therapeutically.” He emphasized that the DELVE platform enables the systematic exploration of viral biology for medicinal applications.

In addition to Harrison's appointment, Prologue Medicines also welcomed Jason Silvers, President and CFO of Generate Biomedicines, and Adrian Rawcliffe, CEO-Partner at Flagship Pioneering, to its Board of Directors. Their expertise is expected to fortify the leadership team as Prologue advances its developmental goals and seeks to innovate in the field of biomedicine.
