The Kodo x Hatsune Miku special live event, dubbed "響演" (Kyouen), is set to take place on November 20th and 21st, 2026, at the prestigious NHK Hall in Shibuya, Tokyo. Krypton Future Media Inc., the driving force behind the iconic Vocaloid character Hatsune Miku, announced the collaboration in partnership with NHK Promotion, aiming to highlight the charm of Vocaloid music through traditional Japanese instruments. The performance will feature the legendary taiko ensemble Kodo, known for their captivating use of drums and other traditional Japanese instruments.

A New Concept in Performance

This event aims to offer a fresh take on the popular "Hatsune Miku x Kodo Special Live" series previously held in 2017, 2018, and 2023. Unlike past iterations that incorporated electric guitars and drums, this performance will solely rely on traditional Japanese instruments such as taiko drums, koto, and shamisen. This change allows for a deeper expression of the relationship between the digital and the traditional.

The main visual for the event has been crafted by the talented illustrator Zenmaibook, showcasing Hatsune Miku dressed in a Kodo-inspired outfit. Attendees will be treated to an unprecedented auditory experience where the vibrant beats of Kodo's performances meet the digitally synthesized vocals of Hatsune Miku, creating a new sound landscape.
