Exploring the Future of Living: Androids at the Haseko Mansion Museum

The Haseko Corporation, headquartered in Minato, Tokyo, is thrilled to announce the permanent display of groundbreaking androids at the Haseko Mansion Museum. This exhibition, which opens to the public on May 9, will feature the androids 'MOMO' and 'Asukaroid' that were initially showcased at the Osaka Kansai Expo under the theme 'Life's Future.' Both of these androids are the brainchild of Professor Hiroshi Ishiguro from Osaka University, a leading figure in robotics.

The decision to showcase these three androids, including one 'MOMO' and two child-like 'Asukaroids,' is rooted in Haseko's commitment to fostering discussions around future living spaces. The exhibition was made possible thanks to Haseko's role as a platinum partner during the expo, where the androids were previously displayed by the company.

In addition to highlighting the history of living spaces, the Haseko Mansion Museum also features a zone dedicated to envisioning the homes of the future. This area, enhanced with avatar technology and AI developed by AVITA Corporation under Professor Ishiguro’s guidance, gives visitors a glimpse into what apartments might look like 15 years from now. However, the addition of the androids takes this exploration further, opening dialogues about living 100 to 1,000 years into the future.

The aim of this exhibition extends beyond merely showcasing advanced technology; it seeks to serve as a 'tool for imagination.' Haseko envisions a space where visitors can contemplate the interplay between humans and technology, the evolution of society, and the future of our homes. By introducing these androids, Haseko hopes to encourage visitors to shape their own visions of the future.

The androids, designed to symbolize humanity a millennium from now, invite us to ponder deeper questions about the relationship between technology and daily life. Each visit to the Haseko Mansion Museum will be an opportunity for personal reflection, allowing people to dream about the different possibilities that await.

This initiative is part of Haseko's commitment to exploring the value and potential that technological advancements can bring to communities and individuals alike. Aiming to contribute meaningfully to the future of living culture, Haseko plans to continue sharing its findings and insights with society.

In conjunction with the android display, the Haseko Mansion Museum's 'Future Living' zone provides an interactive experience to reflect on how advancements could shape our domestic lives. By co-locating the androids that represent distant futures with the more immediate vision of future apartments, Haseko aims to widen the timeline back to visitors, inspiring them to gaze progressively forward into their personal future interpretations.

This unique experience of witnessing both the androids and the 'Future Living' zone serves as an invitation for visitors to immerse themselves in visionary concepts that stretch the imagination. It unites a time spectrum that juxtaposes our immediate tomorrow with the infinite possibilities of the distant future.

As we navigate through the complexities of modern living, the Haseko Mansion Museum stands as a beacon of inspiration, encouraging everyone to contemplate what lies ahead and how we can actively shape it.
