NABEP Expands Operations with Advanced Equipment
North American Blue Energy Partners (NABEP) is set to bolster its operations in Venezuela with the introduction of eleven new workover rigs, each boasting a capacity of 550 horsepower. This launch marks a significant milestone, as it is the first time in over 15 years that new workover and maintenance systems will be deployed in Venezuelan oil fields. With the arrival of new drilling technologies, NABEP aims to enhance its oil exploitation capabilities substantially.
In addition to the new workover units, NABEP has also welcomed two powerful drilling rigs rated at 1,500 horsepower as of October 7. These pieces of equipment will play a vital role in scaling up the firm's oil extraction operations. Plans are already underway for the incoming arrival of additional machinery to support this extensive redevelopment effort.
This recent equipment acquisition is part of an overarching strategy to progressively increase NABEP's operations and output. The corporation has recently added 60 drilling rigs, 30 steam boilers, and 70 heavy machinery units to its growing arsenal. This consolidation has positioned NABEP as the operator with the largest heavy equipment fleet in the Venezuelan oil industry.
Alejandro Betancourt, CEO of NABEP, stated, “NABEP is making serious and steady progress in increasing its oil production. Every platform that arrives in Venezuela brings us closer to our production goals and helps revitalize our country's economy.” He acknowledged the immense challenges ahead but expressed confidence in the collaboration with the U.S. government. “We look forward to continuing to share our progress in the coming months,” he added.
The recent acquisitions of equipment follow a significant agreement struck in August 2026 between NABEP and notable U.S. government departments. This deal aims to drastically enhance oil production levels within Venezuela, tapping into the vast reserves in the region. NABEP is currently managing the marketing rights to over 65 billion barrels of proven oil reserves in Venezuela and plans to invest nearly $100 billion to boost production capabilities as well as enhance oil and gas infrastructure.
The firm is intensifying its focus on the Maracaibo Lake and the Orinoco Oil Belt, with short-term ambitions to escalate production to more than a million barrels of oil per day. Over the past two years, fueled by an investment of approximately $1 billion, NABEP has ramped up daily production from 18,000 barrels to an impressive 200,000 barrels.
Currently, NABEP operates with a workforce of 5,000 employees while also utilizing the services of approximately 10,000 contract workers in Venezuela. The company envisions a robust yet responsible approach to energy resource development, prioritizing the safety of its personnel and fostering prosperity among local communities.
