Batteries Plus Launches Plus Games: A Game-Changing Initiative for Franchise Growth

Batteries Plus Launches the Plus Games

Batteries Plus, recognized as the foremost franchise in specialty battery retail, is embarking on a unique initiative named the Plus Games. This innovative program aims to boost the performance of franchisees while enhancing team skills through a fun and competitive framework.

What Are the Plus Games?

The Plus Games feature the top 16 stores from the Batteries Plus franchise, engaging them in a series of challenges designed to enhance training and sales productivity. Each store is set to compete in timed, skill-focused tasks that span various aspects of the business to demonstrate expertise, customer engagement, and teamwork.

Among the multiple highlights of the initiative is a substantial prize pool exceeding $30,000 that will be awarded to the top performers at the upcoming PlusCon convention scheduled for May 14-15, 2025, in Las Vegas, NV. This competition not only honors top achievements but inspires a culture of excellence that reflects the core values of Batteries Plus.

Celebrating Expertise

The Sweet 16 phase of the Plus Games has kicked off, showcasing Batteries Plus's diverse and widespread operations. Notable participating locations include Corey Robinson's store in Davenport, IA, acclaimed for over 30 years of service, and Trent Labry's shop in Carencro, LA, which has established itself in commercial sales in less than five years. The Epps Group from Tampa also stands out, boasting multiple stores competing in these inaugural games.

Jon Sica, the Chief Operating Officer of Batteries Plus, emphasized that expertise is key at Batteries Plus and that the Plus Games serve to recognize this commitment. According to Sica, "The Plus Games were created to reward and celebrate that expertise, motivating our teams to deliver exceptional performance and service through fun, competitive challenges."

The Selection Process

The participants in the Sweet 16 were carefully chosen based on rigorous evaluations taking place over the last three months. Key metrics analyzed include total sales, flashlight sales, key fob sales, and additional operational indicators, ensuring that only the best-performing stores advance.

Challenges invite competitors to showcase their technical prowess through practical tasks such as battery installations, key fob programming, and exhibit setups, alongside sales-oriented activities focused on customer interactions.

What’s Next?

Following the Sweet 16 round, the competition will continue to progress into the Elite Eight and the Final Four, taking place at Batteries Plus’s dedicated training facilities in Pewaukee, Wisconsin. Through these contests, franchisees will leverage their strengths to escalate customer service delivery and team development.

According to Jason Moss, Vice President of Store Development and Training, the Plus Games are designed to aid franchisees in fostering a better customer experience while building critical business skills. He notes, "This isn't just about winning; it’s about creating a platform for franchisees to unify their teams and cultivate their expertise."
