In 1918, Baron Heitaro Fujita, the heir of Fujita Gumi, inherited Chinzanso, committed to preserving its natural beauty. He ensured that the garden's cultural heritage remained intact, leading to the addition of the iconic pagoda, transforming the property into a picturesque sanctuary.

Rebuilding the Legacy

Post-World War II, the landscape of Tokyo was ravaged, and it fell upon Eichi Ogawa, the first president of Fujita Kanko, to revive Chinzanso. His vision was to create a green oasis amidst the devastation, and by planting approximately 10,000 trees, he successfully restored the garden by 1952.

In his pursuit of public accessibility, Ogawa opened the garden restaurant, making the beauty of Chinzanso available to everyone. Following this, the construction of an international hall in anticipation of the 1964 Tokyo Olympics bolstered the venue's significance further, allowing it to host large-scale gatherings and events.

The Enchanting Firefly Viewing

In 1954, Chinzanso began a cherished tradition: the Firefly Viewing Evening.
